Anyone see the rumor about Det willing to give up the 2 1s until Arnold was recently arrested and now they may have to take a CB?

I’d actually suggest Maxx will do better in a 3-4 defense. Being able to use his speed to line up as an outside backer, which he would essentially be. I can envision stunts from anywhere across the front, whereas majority of games throughout most of his career, other teams knew where he was going to live on the line. If I’m not mistaken, we used this defense in 2022 where he had his most sacks, or close to it.
Not concerned with him dropping in coverage as it will be a gimmick used sparingly. If anything, I want to see this team doing the unpredictable thing from time to time. Nothing crazy, just mix it up. Sometimes making them think too much gives you the advantage.
Instead of hand in the dirt, stand him up and use his length and speed.

The amount and quality of edges in the draft might being his value down a notch. Yes I know that he’s the sure thing as opposed to a prospect who’s never played a down in the pro’s, but coaching staffs always think they know something the other guys don’t

If true, that should apply to everyone.chucker wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 6:10 pm Haha, it's not a step towards Maxx being gone. That's just what you want to happen so maybe you can speak it into existence.

The best defenses mix it up situationally to confuse the offense. Maxx is a very athletic player so him dropping into coverage occasionally would do just that. I think the term would be a zone blitz and teams have offered that up over the years with success.chucker wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 6:10 pm Haha, it's not a step towards Maxx being gone. Maxx will never drop into coverage a lot, but when he does it mixes it up for an offense. I did mention Osi doing it, and he was an elite passrusher and Spags knows his shit. And it f[raiders_icon]cked up Brady and the most potent offense of all time. But we should just do everything as predictably as possible because our players are just more elite than everyone we face so we'll win even without any misdirection.

Crosby wouldn’t last one round in the UFC.

Isnt there language in his contract forbidding his participation in things like skydiving, hang gliding, deep sea diving and other kinds of asshattery?

No, they are allowed to have a life.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:41 pm Isnt there language in his contract forbidding his participation in things like skydiving, hang gliding, deep sea diving and other kinds of asshattery?

Unless it’s specifically put in the contract, it’s usually strongly recommended not to engage in such activities. I would imagine this would be frowned upon by the Raider brass as it’s willing engagement as opposed to falling down a flight of stairs.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 9:41 pm Isnt there language in his contract forbidding his participation in things like skydiving, hang gliding, deep sea diving and other kinds of asshattery?

I actually have knowledge in this one. Deep sea diving, skydiving and the like are not restricted nor are the players advised not to engage in the activities. When Rothlesburger got injured riding his motorcycle it came out that he had no restrictions in his contract about such things. And sparring is included in that way. Our own Lyle Alzado, when he was a Bronco, had a full on exhibition match against Ali. And in typical Alzado style, he went to war and did not treat it as an exhibition match. Players are encouraged to use all safety measures in their down time activities but they are allowed to have a life.Viper wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 4:27 am Unless it’s specifically put in the contract, it’s usually strongly recommended not to engage in such activities. And for the record, skydiving is relatively safe. there are around 30 deaths per year. 10 people die per year in shark attacks. Same for hang gliding deaths. You actually have about the same chances of dying from a lightening strike as you do skydiving. And I highly recommend you try skydiving. Helluva lot of fun. Just do it in the spring or summer. The experience of going from high up where it is actually quite chilly to the heat of the day is cool as hell.

What I stated is most assuredly accurate, that if a team doesn’t want you engaging in an activity, it’s put in the language of the contract. Player doesn’t like what’s in the contract, they don’t sign and has their agent negotiate language they prefer.Attyla wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 4:40 am I actually have knowledge in this one. If you don’t think Spy, Davis or Brady cringe when they see this, well, that’s an opinion I don’t agree with. I assure you they don’t applaud it. Nothing I responded to had anything to do with claiming your post right or wrong, and was actually factual in content. I still contend it’s discouraged. What’s next, bull riding?

I've sky dived, and its not just death, its injuries too. Saw my fair share. Pulled a quad one time when the wind shifted on landing. The feet couldn't move fast enough....

Some players it’s a “Please don’t risk your life” clause. Others a “Call of Duty”. Suppose we should be happy that Maxx is the type of guy that would need the former, cause we’ve also seen firsthand the type of guy that needs the latter.
