Yea I think alot of people are getting caught up on his name and think he's a dominant center. His pass pro is a huge weakness and is being ignored. Baltimore isn't letting him walk simply because he's too expensiveWNYRAIDER wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 7:46 am ...if we do end up signing linderbaum, which, as I have said, I would have concerns ath at the $$$$ being suggested it would take, we really do need a very solid guard play beside him, as from what I have seen, he really struggled more ;last year in pass protection , and the suggestion was that it was related to there having been an issue at guard beside him.
..."Tyler Linderbaum's struggles in pass protection, particularly noted in 2024 and 2025, have primarily been attributed to his physical limitations against power-rushers, leading to a disparity between his elite run-blocking ability and his average-to-below-average pass-blocking grades. While considered a top center overall, his pass-blocking has faced scrutiny, with 26 pressures allowed in 2025."

...agreed, those are some especially concerning stats, and sort of contradicts what many have claimed they are looking for in front of our new kid qb.
....AND ESPECIALLY TO, AS SOME SUGGEST, PAY 7 MILLION (anually) OVER THE NEXT HIGHEST AT THAT POSITION.... (my version of cap shenanigans...)

Who is available that you would consider over Linderbaum? I don't know much about any FA's to be honest. I just know what I read from other sites and YouTube.Hellbound wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 8:08 am Yea I think alot of people are getting caught up on his name and think he's a dominant center. To be fair, Baltimore may not let him walk at all. I get the concerns but im sorry, there's not a center currently available that I would feel more comfortable with in front of our QB right now then Linderbaum. To me, he's worth the money IF hes available. Can we draft one? Sure. Im just saying they cant f[raiders_icon]ck around with the O line. Address it.Hellbound wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 8:08 am Yea I think alot of people are getting caught up on his name and think he's a dominant center. ...no one wants us to 'fk around with the o line', but with the above statistical realities , and the suggested need to have to commit a projected 7 million more a year for him than the next highest paid at that position, and to apparently still not feel so comfortable after the fact, or to still have to have near top guards on either side to compensate for his physical limitations, I hope they take a long look elsewhere.

So, who's your choice then? If you have this opinion on Lindy, then surely you have a Plan B, right?WNYRAIDER wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 8:32 am Tyler Linderbaum's struggles in pass protection, particularly noted in 2024 and 2025, have primarily been attributed to his physical limitations against power-rushers, leading to a disparity between his elite run-blocking ability and his average-to-below-average pass-blocking grades. i get that but this kid has all the physical traits to be great, mature, explosive first step, violent hand fighter and multiple moves in the arsenal already he will hit the ground running and keep going for 7-8 yrs, younger player need to mature and learn technique, moves and still many never develop those tools ...just look at our bust from a few yrs ago...dude never developed and still has only a bull rush and slow get offchucker wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 5:21 am For me the issue with drafting an older player is more about how many more ascending years the guy has than how many years before physical decline hits. A player who is 21/22/23 years old is still developing physically (and mentally) and getting stronger every year. So the older player has been more developed than the players he's been matched up against and may look better in college as a result. Development may continue for longer in the NFL for a guy who enters at a younger age. At a certain age, most guys are at their peak already.
Players can maintain that physical capacity for a long time - but may not have the same upside in the NFL as a younger draft pick.

Lindebaums mid pass blocking should be helped by the switch to kubiak and mendoza. He doesn't have to hold up for 9 seconds while Lamar runs around

...i'm sorry if I hurt your feelings with the reality of what I shared, but with our new hc's recent past in Seattle, it seems like he might just be the guy who can come up with a better plan than to grossly overspending for a name whose last few years of stats do not seem to match up to the impressions of some of local experts, and for what might be in the best interests of our new rookie face of the franchise.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 8:36 am So, who's your choice then? ....no doubt, but do we need to pay 7 million more annually than the next highest paid at that position for that?

tyler lindenbaum would help solidify our oline big time, move jp to guard where he belongs and then grab another guard in free agency thats proven goodDanKD wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 8:42 am Lindebaums mid pass blocking should be helped by the switch to kubiak and mendoza. 26 pressures over 17 games is 1.52 per game on average. Where does that land vs our centers last year and the rest of the league? Mendoza has a quick release, I would expect that number could go down.
People are throwing out 7 million over, but I think it will be more like 2-3 million.

Linderbaum is still my choice for center. 4th last year in overall PFF rating. Only Erik McCoy, Creed Humphrey and Tanor Bortolini had better grades and they're not available. And he's only 25yo. He will only get better.
