I’d bet Kubiak knows an offense can’t run without a dominant O line, especially at center. It will be addressed through FA and the draft, you just can’t send out a rookie Qb without one.chucker wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:02 am It's nice to be able to figure things out, but I have to agree that we really don't know what Kubiak is thinking. We know he values a really smart center - we don't know if he's looking at Linderbaum as that guy, another FA center, or some random guard who's never even played the position. The next few days could shed a lot of light on it.
I can’t wait to see Jeanty with a hole to run through instead of getting hit behind the los on most plays.

Definitely. He's still a very good center just not top tier category imo. Im sure it was the guards on each side of him and LJ holding on to the ball that contributed to some of his poor pass pro numbers but some of it was also on himchucker wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:13 am That's a reasonable take. Linderbaum absolutely has weaknesses. I've mentioned it before that he'll catch grief on this site when he gets overpowered at times. On balance he's still a huge improvement at a huge need.

i believe kolton miller is our only big ticket item on oline, so tyler would be the 2nd big ticket item, this also solves one of our guard position because we would slide jp over to guard leaving us with a strong left side, we have a couple of good prospect on oline that can take care of the other guard position leaving us only to have to address rt in teh draft/faWNYRAIDER wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:14 am ...you may be right, but if it is in the range projected a year, you can only invest so much in an o line and sustain that for long at all, and with that type investment, how much more do you expect to have to need to spend for the 2 guys beside him? ...it has to all be a part of the consideration.....as I said, who knows, but i'll bet that our new HC has at least a plan regarding this, and will try and go forward with that plan regardless of any of the post here.
...and to be fair, in the end, we also don't know until we know, regarding the end numbers he will get, wherever.
....as I have said, I would have loved McGovern for 13 a year, buy that ship has obviously sailed....but I also think there are more of those in the pipeline, only with names less familiar to us here....

I don't really disagree with your take but the word develop doesn't belong in discussions of a pick at 14 overall.CWood24 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:04 am Kayden MacDonald is slowly moving up & getting into to that 14 range, seen him at around 20-25 but recently saw a few mocks where he is getting into the teens
I knew he had a good anchor in the little i saw of him but actually watching him & break downs of him he is like a wall in the NT role
If you need an anchor to build a defence around MacDonald at 14 would be a good pick
Before i get shit i personally want Ioane but if not him then MacDonald could be a cornerstone type player with high upside if you can develop his pass rush

Another thing that's getting kind of glossed over is that even with the scheme change, the oline is going to be better from just having competent coaching. Add in a couple of good olinemen and we should have somethingViper wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:15 am I’d bet Kubiak knows an offense can’t run without a dominant O line, especially at center. Jeanty, behind a dominant line, is going to cause a LOT of sleepless nights for D coordinators this year.Viper wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:15 am I’d bet Kubiak knows an offense can’t run without a dominant O line, especially at center. I don’t think Linderbaum is bad in pass protection. He’s elite in the running game and average in the passing game. He might get overpaid a bit but I still think if we have the opportunity, he’s worth it. For a better team tighter against the cap, I’d say he’s not worth it. For us, I think contextually there’s a lot of knock-on benefits. Both for Jeanty and Mendoza, and the fact that probably the best thing you can do for a rookie QB is give him a good ground game.Hellbound wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:12 am He's the best center on the market. He's going to get paid and it's probably going to be elite money. He's not an elite center imo and has problems in pass pro and always has. That's all Im saying. I myself would've went after McGovern if the price for Linderbaum was too high. Obviously that's not an option anymore
I'd still be more than happy with Linderbaum, I just don't think he's worth the money that he's probably going to get

I do not know why some of you are getting bent out of shape by the idea of overpaying Lindenaum by 5 or even say 10 million. We just paid Geno 36 million, Wilkins 30 million etc... the risk for signing a big ticket free agent is not over paying by a few million or so its paying a bunch of money for someone who ends up off the roster or being cut with dead money. I think Tyler is extremely low risk for this (pending injuries as it is for any player.

Yea I will never understand the concern over the money. Ever. And if you're ever going to "overpay", id sure as hell want it to be on the O line.DanKD wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:29 am I do not know why some of you are getting bent out of shape by the idea of overpaying Lindenaum by 5 or even say 10 million. A smart, competent front office can always get creative with money when needed.

Paying top dollar for a player who ends up just a solid reliable starter isn't a disaster. The disasters are Christian Wilkins, Chandler Jones, Trent Brown and other moves where you're looking for a home run and gamble on character or injury red flags.

You for sure never want to be in cap hell but that’s not a concern this year.BoKnows81 wrote: Sun Mar 08, 2026 9:37 am Yea I will never understand the concern over the money. Ever. And if you're ever going to "overpay", id sure as hell want it to be on the O line.
