I don't see that happening either...I don't think Maxx lost any value, at least not with most Raiders fans.

They still need more help on the O-line. Blake Miller in the 2nd round! Glaze sucked moose last year. According to PFF he gave up 10 sacks. I don't know how Kubiak could even say that there is stability in the tackle positions.

RT is definitely a need and the only realistic skill set guy I would take over a Tackle in Round 2 is Omar Cooper. It's possible we have our LT of the future on the roster already in Grant. I need to see more though.

I don't feel like the NFL needs more rules. Teams can work it out. The Maxx situation was not common, and the Raiders could have insisted on a quicker physical and had it over and done with before the FA negotiation period even opened.

Sucked Moose? Are you Canadian? My wife prefers sucked donkey balls, so no judgement, just curiosity.

It's not realistic in the frenzied FA period and during the legal tampering period it isn't even permitted by league rules unless the player's current team officially grants permission (and why would they?). The Ravens certainly could have had Maxx' physical a lot sooner than they did..... once the trade terms were hammered out he could have gone for a physical on Saturday. It seems like they were happy to wait until they had a chance to see what Hendrickson would get in FA.
I saw/heard on a podcast or talking head show that Crosby had obligations over the weekend, that’s why no exams were done then.

As long as we are wishing for things what will never happen with the NFL. . .

I wish every Raider fan gets a million billion dollars from the NFL for our pain and suffering and take away the Ravens draft picks for the next tens years.

I mean if you are going to go crazy, GO CRAZY!

Question; does anyone know if the Ravens gave Maxx the news first, or the Raiders ?

You act as if the Ravens didn't know he was coming off knee surgery. You also ignore that it is obvious the Ravens negotiated a contract with Hendrickson prior to backing out of the Crosby trade.
This isn't just an awe shucks, things happen kinda thing.

No, I freely acknowledged several times what they knew. And no, you apparently read one post of mine and assumed I had not acknowledged the very likelihood that the Hendrickson deal was being worked on at the same time. And again, because you took one post and ran with it, you failed to see that I have repeatedly stated that we likely got jobbed in this one. Go back and you will see just that. Or be lazy and take one post and run with it.

But what you cannot do is make a rule that assesses a fine or penalty on a team for what they do not know. They did not know the extent of the injury prior to the physical. This situation is so rare. It honestly makes zero sense to penalize a team for what they view of a doctors opinion. Nobody is going to agree to a penalty system for the assessment of a doctor report.

I don't think the Raiders actually lost as a result of the aborted trade. Without the Ravens in the mix, we might not have gotten the same trade compensation so I don't know that a comparable value was gonna happen in a trade. Without the trade getting agreed to and then aborted I don't think we'd have a Crosby on the roster with a refreshed attitude towards the Raiders and an extra chip on his shoulder to prove people wrong.

I think the Ravens were trying to play both ends and ended up with the scenario they preferred - signing the lesser player for the same money but keeping their first round picks. They do look like assholes for stringing it out, but people will forget that shit soon enough and teams and agents will still do business with them when opportunities arise.

I’m sure in the future Spytek will insist on quicker timelines on physicals in future scenarios like this. I don’t think anyone in Raiders headquarters was expecting the Ravens to screw them over like this because it simply doesn’t happen typically. I’m sure plenty of teams will tread carefully in the future when dealing with the Ravens as it sounds like they are a little greasy given this incident and the comments made by some agents and GM’s that they like to f[raiders_icon]ck with people.

raiders still have 45 million under the cap with max on teh team, we can substantially reduce that base salary to create much more space
