I'll take Brian Baldingers film analysis over "Former supposed Ny Jet (scout) "Hack.." Daniel Kelly's take all day and every day.

As was mentioned, I don't mind people being critical of a player and any analysis of a player, if done correctly is always going to unveil more of the picture of a player. And Kelly does make a few good points about Mendoza's reaction to pressure and his accuracy ratings while being pressured. That is a paintbrush picture and the stats speak for themselves. Putting a 4th round grade and calling him stiff and systematic while praising Caleb Williams for the same? His analysis is pretty basic and his critiques are mostly silly. Mendoza's claps and the fact that he works from the gun primarily? I can find all sorts of flaws to his analysis. Baldinger's breakdown is far simpler but that does not mean that Brian is wrong, he just uses a small sample size to make his points. And his points are based on a good game vs a tough opponent.

Part of me thinks Kelly's analysis is intended for a certain audience. I wonder if he is hoping that casting doubt on Mendoza is in some strange way intended for us to move off of Mendoza so his precious Jets can get him. That to me makes far more sense but he also has been proven to be a questionable talent evaluator hence his lack of a current NFL job. Also, clicks are how he makes some money so being critical is where it is at.

Finally, and this is the best part, the Jets fanbase is slaying the guy. His talking points about Mendoza are being shredded by their fans. It is quite obvious they hate the guy and his takes.

He really wasn't a scout per se. More like a stats guy who got coffee and picked up people at the airport. I give him credit for getting as far as he did and his love of football.

But he isn't a scout.

He may have been a scout. A boy scout.

I read the article you posted. By no means was he a scout. SI is wrong or just being generous to his ego.

Did you read the article you posted about him? The article described his duties. And it sure didn't come across as a scout.

I don't care if he was Ron G Wolfe. Scouts can be as wrong as a poster when it comes to college talent. His opinion is way outside of consensus.

TBH, I do not give a f[raiders_icon]ck what talking heads say (both good and bad). I love everything about this kid as far as intangibles (undisputed). What does it mean at the end of the day? NOTHING. We can only hope he is the real deal. Regardless, I am just glad we are along for the ride to find out. Thanks to Brandon Carroll and Geno "Jets turn" Smith.

They LISTED him as a scout. I read the article. Do you know all the things a low level scout does? I sure as hell do. I know more than a few.

This. There is no science behind why some guys translate to the pro’s and other guys don’t. All I can say is we’ve got the 1st overall pick and a QB available who by virtually all accounts: is worth the 1st overall pick.

The things we can control: coaching, protection, ground game, targets… we seem to have done a reasonably good job of putting in place. Beyond that, whether he succeeds or not I can’t hate the process. This offseason looks like a shockingly competent one.
