Succession Plan
Probably doesn’t need its own thread but I thought it would be Brady. Or is that still Brady?

I've been going through a very similar situation with another team. I've been a NY Yankee fan since I was 6 but since Hal Steinbrenner took over for his father George things have changed. And IMO, much of the subsequent, and more recent mediocre results for the Yanx and the abysmal results for the Raiders are directly the result of poor leadership/ownership.
Both franchises were once owned by very competitive and passionate and savvy individuals who took over struggling teams and turned them into powerhouses, But neither Hal or Mark possess that same fire and passion for success and winning.
We can deem Hal or Mark as a "genius" or "doofus" all we want but in both instances it still comes down to "accountability".
If there's accountability for players, there should also be accountability for management, and more importantly, if there's accountability for management, there should therefore also be accountability for ownership.
...and the "buck stops" with ownership.

That's fine and dandy. But just repeating shit over and over, stuff that nobody can even prove is childish. We all get sucked into it at times but sometimes just be the bigger person & let it go.SuperRaider wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 4:52 am Mrbass is not troll, he will stand his ground…he was a member of another raider forum that I was a member of that closed down over a year ago

thats the thing "mark inherited a team struggling to make money cause they didn't own anything, no luxury boxes, no ownership of parking or concessions either" al davis was a genius when it came to football but he was dummy on business matters and got screwed multiple times, marks the opposite of his dad great on the business side and a dummy on football...we got hope the football side will get fixed though now that brady/spytek/kubiak are in charge of the product on the fieldSuperRaider wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 5:07 am Basically it was the idiot’s (council) in Oakland that could not keep the Raiders in Oakland and Mark had to leave; so he had to move the team…I would have preferred LA but that was not happening so he moved to Vegas…..Mark Davis is actually loaded now; don’t think he had a lot of money when he was Oakland; but now he a very rich man

yes, the buck does stop at marks feet hes done a fine job on teh business end of things but he has to fix the play on the field next...we have hope with brady/spytek and kubiak in the house if he gets this ship turned around and start winning then nobody could call him a doofus againraidersince63 wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 5:55 am I've been going through a very similar situation with another team. maybe thats his disguise to throw off people and then he flips it and out of nowhere wins (business side) lolLayneStaley wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2026 10:55 pm If Davis didn’t look so f[raiders_icon]cking weird and eat at Hooters and PF Changs and knew how to dress he would get almost zero shit. I don’t think he’s a genius but I do think he’d spend almost all of his money to make us winners.

Other than the articles that everyone has already read, no one knows shit about how much certain individuals were or weren't involved, who gets a share of this or that, or who outwitted who

so the employee did his job (assigned by mark), jones did his job as the defacto commish (after conversation with mark) brought it back to mark whom reviewed everything at every stage of the negotiations with council and authorized it to move forward at every stage and then when he got the deal he wanted, signed it...sound about rightAttyla wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 3:53 am No, the articles lay out the other aspects. I read the attendance logs for all the BoA meetings. And there were around 10 or so. Davis was at two. One of the two was the signing meeting that happened in North Carolina. The other was the first meeting. That was in Dallas. The others were Badain and Jones. And Jones was at all the meetings. Badain and Jones hammered out the deal, they looped in Davis but they did the deal

Agreed. However, he's aging much better into his look and it's more about the looks than HootChang.LayneStaley wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2026 10:55 pm If Davis didn’t look so f[raiders_icon]cking weird and eat at Hooters and PF Changs and knew how to dress he would get almost zero shit. 'Cause even if we were winning, sure we'd be happier but his looks would always have been a thing. Bowl cuts are ALWAYS singled out.

Ehh...it's a message board full of strangers with differing opinions. There's more important things in life to worry about other than being right, wrong, hard or soft on a message board. In the grand scheme of things, like life, does it really matter? Imo it's miniscule. Maybe it's the younger generation that thinks differently and Im just starting to show my geezer agemstrbass2000 wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 7:28 am like i said before "im not the one attacking" i posted my opinion and then got attacked and reacted...everybody that knows me from other boards knows im no pushover
One thing we can all agree on and is a fact, is that we all want this team to be successful no matter the owner, gm, coach, qb or players

Maybe someone should create a poll that asks 1 simple question; "As a Raiders fan, do you believe that the franchise would be better off with new ownership?...Yes, or No?mstrbass2000 wrote: Sun Mar 22, 2026 7:23 am yes, the buck does stop at marks feet hes done a fine job on teh business end of things but he has to fix the play on the field next...we have hope with brady/spytek and kubiak in the house if he gets this ship turned around and start winning then nobody could call him a doofus again
Don't know why you keep bringing the business end up, but refusing to admit that Mark has had many many chances to get things right on the field, but has failed miserably. Reread and grasp what I said...the Yankees are mired in mediocrity which comes from his Son who had the franchise GIVEN to him by his Father George and has since never put together a championship team of his own design.
The same thing is true of Mark. He has yet, regardless of the many opportunities, even scratched the surface of the concept of "Commitment to Excellence".
They don't give Lombardi Trophies for Mark being "a nice guy", much less than being labeled as a supposed "genius", nor do they give them to a team whose owner was GIVEN one of the most famous and most recognizable sports brands ever and has taken it absolutely nowhere, except to an abyss.
