Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide

Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

He is saying he doesnt know if we are going to get any cap space back from Christian Wilkins' dismissal, but he thinks we will get some relief. That would be great to get some cap space back from that weird situation.

Doubt we see any signings till after the draft than they will address whatever positions didn't get filled, no point in looking at what's currently leftover right now as there will be better players available after june 1st cuts when the 2nd wave of free agency comes out.

Good points, but I was just kinda fishing to see if there was anyone out there people thought this team could really use and add to make a difference if the price was right.

I think we will get that veteran who can help for a late round pick come draft time. We obviously have the $ and picks. There is always value at the time of the draft.

Corner is a pretty big need if Darian Porter doesn't take a big step forward. That doesn't account for depth either. Can't fix every hole but after NT I think the biggest needs on paper is in the secondary at FS and corner. The defense actually, IMO, has potentially to be pretty damn good if they can plug a couple spots

CB's best friend is a pass rush. Cornerback room for us, pretty thin, if Porter is a bust.

I wonder about how much more salary could be restructured to help our cap this year without hurting the future too much (vague I know).

Its wise waiting to see what happens at the draft, and who gets released afterwards.

So many holes to fill, but not much remaining cap.
Im curious to see what we could free up this year by restructuring some contracts. If we wanted to, or if it made sense, or if needed due to injury.

True. But we need a competent RT to protect our most important player.
Glaze was awful, allowed 10 sacks, bad coaching or not. Maybe he improves
with better coaching but he isn't there now.
Grant might have a chance but we have no idea whatsoever, and won't by the draft.

That's a lot of pressure to draft a starting RT in round 2. Or at least rent a moderately priced vet
for insurance.

I was really just wondering about numbers and possible numbers.

Yes DJ Glaze was terrible in his second year. Add he's gave up 45 pressures. Edge rushers would run right past him on the outside. Glaze also had a 54.9 run block grade last year but its a new day but unfortunately for him, it's his 3rd season.
His play hasn’t shown he's anywhere near a cemented starter.

One thing ill add is Kubiaks 21 and 22 sets could cover up his weakness with speed edge rushers.
Maybe Mayers TE could be schemed to chip and settle under for that 8y dump off pass.

Personally I dont see many players at 36 who could automatically step in and replace him.

Id consider Gennings Dunker who is an upgrade in both pass blocking and a mauler in run but hes ranked as a late 2nd-3rd rounder so they would have to move up to grab him from the 3rd.
I dont want to reach at 36.

At Iowa, he thrived as an elite zone blocker, but most NFL scouts project him as a better fit for gap/power schemes if he's drafted inside to guard.

Who knows but whatever they do do I feel confidant for a change.

About 34m by restructuring Maxx and Miller per overthecap. We’ve got plenty of means to sign more guys. I think we’re most likely just preserving flexibility to be active again next year with a new crop of FAs. As of now we’re slated to have 108m next offseason.

I could see a couple 1 year vets after the draft but committing big $$ over multi year deals is probably done for this year. Basically keep ourselves liquid for some big ticket guys next offseason.

49ers GM John Lynch said the team would not re-sign WR Jauan Jennings.
It’s officially “the denials are adding up” season for Jennings, who was also ruled out as an option for the Commanders last week. “He’ll find a good home, and Jauan will go play great football for someone,” Lynch said. “I can’t say enough for what that guy did; when that guy stepped between the lines, man, he was a presence, and they had to deal with him, and he won us a lot of games.” Jennings will probably need to take a one-year deal at this point.
