Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

Eagles GM Howie Roseman said “A.J. Brown’s an Eagle.”
“What do you think the odds are that I’m answering this question any different than I answered it anywhere else? Like really, do you think that’s 50 percent? Do you think it’s 75 percent?” Roseman essentially lampooned the Philadelphia press corps. We’d be surprised at this point if Brown were an Eagle on August 1, especially after they traded for Dontayvion Wicks last week. It remains the biggest unresolved story of the offseason.

Why bring in a diva WR to go with Mendosa. This is not any of the previous regimes.

Someone mentioned Keenan Allen, and I think that makes a ton of sense 1) if he still has gas in the tank and 2) we don’t get a WR high in the draft.
If we draft a WR at 36, I would no longer be as interested as I would want that player to get reps right away.
But if we don’t, KA is the exact type of player that could help both in short term and long term.
Short term, he’s a bandaid. If he has gas in the tank he will be a good WR for us for the next season or two, but that’s it.
Long term, he’s a very savvy WR who can help a young QB feel soft spots in coverage, and show how a pro WR gets on the same as a pro QB.
Plus, I believe he grew up a Raider fan.
As I said at the top, he would have to still have juice for me to be interested. But if he can still play, and we don’t get a top WR at 36, then Keenan could be a great short term fit

And the Raiders do not need a "true WR1".

I am sure that many have mentioned Keenan. I mentioned him in the draft post. It makes more sense to draft some OL help and sign KA. He is a solid citizen and a good player who will not break the bank and who would be more than likely be our WR#1. He would also be a good bridge WR (if there is such a thing) who can teach the pups (both on the roster and who we draft) a thing or two.Raiders Baby wrote: Tue Apr 14, 2026 12:14 pm Someone mentioned Keenan Allen, and I think that makes a ton of sense 1) if he still has gas in the tank and 2) we don’t get a WR high in the draft.

...not crazy about his age...of course that would also depend on what kind of deal he's after.

Paye likely starts over Koonce regardless of MaxxCruisin with Tooz wrote: Thu Apr 09, 2026 8:47 pm It would have to involve Crosby for the cap considerations. That would also get Paye unblocked.

Getting Brown is a cherry on top going to the playoffs move. Not we finally found our rookie QB and we are retooling to get out of the Division cellar.

He is no doubt a GREAT player. However, he is a knuckle head that will be to rich for us in both draft and cap capital.Rabidraider wrote: Tue Apr 14, 2026 1:33 pm Getting Brown is a cherry on top going to the playoffs move. ESPN’s Kris Rhim believes Chargers S Derwin James “almost certainly want a new deal before training camp starts.”
Entering his age-30 season, James has bounced back from early-career injuries and been one of the most dependable and versatile defenders in the NFL over the past four years. He posted an 83.7 PFF coverage grade in 2025 playing in the box, at slot, and even manning the defensive line at times. Rhim adds the usual “it seems likely that a deal will get done,” but the curious thing part here is: “Whether [Chargers GM Joe] Hortiz is willing to give a 30-year-old James a record deal is one of the biggest questions ahead of this season.” It sure sounds like James could be a potential trade candidate based on that sentence. The Chargers have not exactly been big spenders under Hortiz.
chargers r one of the poorest teams in the n.f.l, they dont own squat, no control of stadium, concession, parking ...basically teh rams bitches
i wonder if a deal could happen for derwin james ???

Contact:
Contact powskiKeenan should be cheap and he can still play if healthy.
I'd love the Raiders to sign him to a short deal (like a year or 2).
The young receivers would probably learn a lot from him.

A "bridge" WR and a "bridge" QB?...hey, whatever it takes to get us back to respectability.
