Lol...yea. McFadden looked like was riding a bird when he ran. That guy had the skinniest legs I ever saw on a RB.

Research FYI
Washington is a terrible blocker. Struggles mightily in blitz pick ups.
He's mainly a linear runner and is better suited in a power gap system.
But his 40 time was tops among all RBs at 4.33.
Im not a fan.
Kaelon Black Indiana, picked at 185 by SF, had a 4.45 and is a top blocker. Played in the wide zone is who I would've targeted.

Blocking can be coached up. And I was under the impression we would run hybrid of mostly zone but some power to keep 'em guessing.KillerRaider30 wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 7:49 am Research FYI

PS Black was selected at 90 in the 3rd

So can zone running. The first key to running well in a zone system, is running a zone system.raider_kin wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 7:59 am Blocking can be coached up. And I was under the impression we would run hybrid of mostly zone but some power to keep 'em guessing.

The scouting reports I have read about him have said that he modulates his speed to set up blocks, a skill that's well suited to wide zone running, We shall see.KillerRaider30 wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 7:49 am Research FYI

I always worry about rookie RBs in terms of pass blocking. We will still need someone with NFL experience at the position and I think we'll likely add a cheap vet along the way. However, given the history of the Shanahan/Kubiak tree for finding and developing RBs, I'd just hope they know what they're doing. They probably do.KillerRaider30 wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 7:49 am Research FYI

Black went a full round ahead of Washington, and I assume they had no intention of investing that high of a pick in him. He was a pretty big surprise to go that early and it's very possible that the Raiders were targeting him as a RB more in the range where Washington was taken. He wasn't even invited to the combine, so he wasn't expected to go in the 3rd round.
