Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

If Burrow stays healthy the Bengals are taking that division. Their oline is better than what many say it is. Burrow gets hit a lot his first two years, hes now injury prone & it's this idea going forward that Cincinnati has a shit line that has stuck. Not true. Burrow actually hangs onto the ball a lot & takes awkward sacks where his legs get contorted.
Theyve had a good off-season with landing Mafe, Cook, Allen and a few other defenders. Flacco is an excellent backup, perhaps the best in the league at this point. Throw in Dexter over the nose and I think they'll be a dogfight game for most teams

He's technically unsigned, but I think he "signed" with a team and was waiting to execute a contract until after the draft so that there wouldn't be a comp pick impact for the signing. There was a rumor that the situation was being investigated by the NFL.

everyone has aj brown to the patsies (auto) but i think aj browns price has fallen as the eagles have added vi a trade at wr and fa and now took lemon in the 1st rd losing em a lot of leverage
i think a team like the raiders could jump into this and make it happen still
kubiak playcalling/dennison oline calls
fernando
ashton/mike
bowers
nailor,tucker,bech
upgraded oline "kolton back,tyler,jpj,zuhn"
and add aj brown would be a force to reckon with imo

It just seems there is too much of a chance that AJ Brown would be a hinderance to Mendoza's development. You just can't have a "me first" guy with a rookie QB that's learning to be a franchise QB.

I don’t want Brown either, but I always remember that Vrabel was reportedly pissed when Tennessee traded him and he’s supposedly going to trade for him in New England.RickRyb wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2026 8:57 am It just seems there is too much of a chance that AJ Brown would be a hinderance to Mendoza's development. Bowers is an incredibly tough cover. He's a big receiver imo. Mayer is going to get plenty of work in two TE sets as he should.
Jeanty/Washington/Hemby get a lot of work in the wide zone. Jeanty proved he's also a valuable pass catcher.
I personally think Nailor is going to thrive. His size and his game is very very similar to JSN. Not saying he's JSN but just look up their physical traits/times etc and watch them both play.
Off that commitment to the ground game, if successful, the play action deep shot plays will be there. Guys like Tucker, Thornton & now Benson have speed to burn teams deep. The key to success of it all is that running game. I'm not overly concerned about the pass catchers. There's a lot to like

I hope the previous noise that we were interested in Keenan Allen comes to fruition. Give him an incentive laden one year contract. The guy can still play and he seems like he would help our kids. Solid citizen and player.

I don’t agree with brining in an aging wr to help mentor our young receivers. We by all accounts shouldn’t be a serious contender this year so why not see what we have in the young guy’s. They can’t get any better sitting behind someone who isn’t going to be here when hopefully the tide turns and we become contenders.
We signed Lockett last year and all he did was take playing time away from Bech and Thornton. We weren’t winning anymore games with Lockett than with the other two.

Comparing apples and oranges. First off, I would not compare the scholarship given by our former douche bag coach to his ass boy (who he took off the scrap heap). Lockett had 10 catches the previous year before we signed him (and a roBUST 22 receptions for us). Keenan Allen had 81 catches last year, 70 the year before, and 108 the year before that. The future hall of famer can still get the job done and dare I say is better than all our WR's. He has a wealth of experience and his knowledge would help our kids.Grumpy13 wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 12:21 pm I don’t agree with brining in an aging wr to help mentor our young receivers. Yes, but not really, he has a gentleman's handshake with the Giants. They will wait until after the draft due to Compensatory pick calculation, if he does not sign yet, will not be part of Comp Pick calculation.

Seeing some small samples of Nailor tells me the staff thinks he is going to excel and be WR#1. Hence the skipping of top talent in the early rounds. Just a feeling.

the problem i see is keenan works the same areas as bech/bowers, what we dont have is an x wr unless nailor or thorton show this yrRI RAIDER wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 12:54 pm Comparing apples and oranges. I heard that, but I also heard that the NFL got wind of what was going on and might nix any deal between the two.raiderjohn wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2026 1:04 pm Yes, but not really, he has a gentleman's handshake with the Giants.
