im looking forward to seeing all of my loved one in teh afterlife including all of my dogs whom i miss so much, every dog and cat i have ever had was a loved one to me and affected me so much after they left this earth...SkullCrusher wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 3:52 pm How about children grown up and gone... hello doggo's!
I try to think my after-life into existence and one part is all the dogs I've raised to see them on the other side and it will be glorious! We'll basically live a 50 first dates/ground hogs day together forever.

Dogs are better than people.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 2:21 pm I would hope that the parole board would be above using the dog's death as a criteria for their parole decision.

And to do so with a blood alcohol level at twice the legal limit. I don't think he thought it was a good idea -- I don't think he thought much about it. Irresponsible, immature A-hole. If the Parole Board lets him out, I have to believe that the league won't let him back in for a while. Taking even two years off means a very unlikely chance you come back and are able to play at a high level in the NFL. But maybe Mr. Ruggs will have no desire to re-enter the league and the whole experience makes him turn his life in another direction.Willmark wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 2:38 pm Dog or not.
Let’s see who wants to die a fiery death with their pet through no fault of their own because some dumb ass thought it was a good idea to speed at something like 160 mph on a city street.
What’s that? No takers?
Thought so.

As a dog owner for my entire life and usually having more than one at a time, a very good friend of mine told me the same thing. As much as I love my pets, I’m reminded of a sociologist that made a compelling argument that those who “love their animals more than people” may well have strong narcissistic tendencies. One of his major points was that it was because an animal can’t truthfully tell you when you are wrong or when you are or being bad. One is loving something and worshipping something that is incapable of correcting you therefore never disappointing you. Just interesting conversation.
Again I love my dogs as much as anybody and will protect them from danger but I won’t equate them to human beings for better or worse. They are animals…..

While I can see that line of thinking and not gonna debate it both plus and minus as it would ultimately become circular. I like dogs better than most people. I would save a dog first. I’ve owned dogs my whole life and it isn’t necessarily about how they treat me just how pure they are. Yes I know they are animals. My dogs would have died protecting me there is no doubt. Don’t currently have any as I’m too busy at the moment to properly treat and train them.Xramfan wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 4:51 pm As a dog owner for my entire life and usually having more than one at a time, a very good friend of mine told me the same thing. People steal, kill, rape, brutalize for fun. Dogs don’t do that.

And they never have bad days and are always happy to see you when you get home. Cats on the other hand would lie to you if they could.Raidernation1979 wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 5:44 pm While I can see that line of thinking and not gonna debate it both plus and minus as it would ultimately become circular. He spent the entire time working out and getting ready for an NFL come back. Screw that he killed a woman and her dog and three years is all he gets? As somebody whose mother was hit and killed by a car he shouldn’t see the light a day till he’s f[raiders_icon]cking 50 and that’s just when he’s eligible for parole.

Ok, so using your logic because there was mass genocide during the holocaust then a particular group of beings doesn't equate in value to another particular groups? Speak for yourself. I have four dogs and I value their lives much more than many human beings I have met. It's not about legal justification and nobody said that it was where the dog was concerned.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 1:42 pm Every day tens of thousands of cows, pigs, chickens, etc are killed for food. Every day hundreds if not thousands of dogs and cats are killed in dog pounds, simply because they are inconvenient. Every day dogs are experimented on, then killed when the experiment is over in university laboratories. An animal's life is not equated to a human life. People are not imprisoned for killing animals, unless it involved deliberate cruelty, eg dog fights. That a dog also died in that accident isnt any legal justification for denying him parole.
The simple fact is that he took two lives with a poor decision.
Does Ruggs deserve a second chance? I believe so, and maybe that second chance is not on the football field and maybe it's not appropriate yet. The legal penalty is between he and the state of Nevada. The moral penalty is between he, the girls family and whatever higher being he believes in.

Ruggs is a scumbag end of story !
Should do the 10 years and I’m surprised State of Nevada was this lenient..
Perfect example of what alcohol has done to Society
For some odd reason Alcohol abuse, DUI and DWI is tolerated in every state.
God d@mn shame and the sad part is nobody gives a f#k!

It was the botched police warrant that led to the reduced time. Most people are just unaware of it and presume it was a ‘soft on crime’ scenario. There was a real possibility that if it went to trial, he’d walk.
I can tell you that with certainty. I’ve spent many hours and countless lunches discussing the Ruggs case with the Assistant DA who was at the epicenter of it all.

Proves my point Ruggs is a cog in the wheel of justice. Nobody should be angry at him for the sentence or possible early release. It is not up to him. f[raiders_icon]ck, violent douche bags are released daily and kill young women on subway trains with a knife to the neck. We don’t blink. This discussion has drifted to hanging Ruggs because a dog was involved. Again, I love my water dogs and they are awesome but they are not human beings. I’m more moved when a young woman is attacked on a subway train or on the street myself.DrDUne wrote: Mon May 11, 2026 9:32 pm It was the botched police warrant that led to the reduced time. The guy is a PoS and as someone else said, should be in there til he's 50. He had no remorse straight after the event and the 'remorse' now is simply because of what he stands to gain. I hope nothing good for him.

There is a judge who I think said it best in an unrelated court case. Ruggs is not a criminal, however he is a murderer. There was a criminal act that resulted in death but his intent was not to commit a crime. He was just stupid and rich and entitled. That combination resulted in the murder of a girl and her dog. And it was a horrible death to be sure.55Barndoor wrote: Tue May 12, 2026 12:25 am The guy is a PoS and as someone else said, should be in there til he's 50.
