Time to climb atop our division
Maybe it’s just because it’s our division but, I literally despise Reid, Harbaugh and especially Payton. Tired of all the talk about how great of coaches they are. Our ineptitude to hire competent coaches who make good football decisions is Mark’s fault and has only helped solidify our basement dwelling.
Time for some real hope and change. We aren’t the only team in our division anymore without, although early and still unproven, a Qb that can actually lead this team to wins. To the playoffs. Hopefully soon, a Super Bowl. The others have had success because of having that Qb, especially KC. If Bo hadn’t gotten injured, who knows, they may have had their Cinderella moment. Mendoza should be better than at least him. Sure, Nix has the mobility to extend plays with his legs and is a threat to run on any given play. Personally, I’d rather a Qb that doesn’t rely so much on scrambling to be successful because those guys don’t tend to hold up well over the long haul. I’d rather a higher IQ guy which we have in our rookie.
Gonna take a couple more years to put the pieces in place, including depth but, it really looks like we’re finally headed in the right direction. Time to start climbing to the top of at least our division, get to the playoffs by any means possible and be done with being last.

Hopefully 2027 will be about building on their successes, whatever they may be, and NOT rebuilding the team.

Stable teams turnover players around 30% each year. 16 new players.
The worst are approaching 50%. 26 players.
The average is a bit over 40% 22 players.
When you look at it that way, there is always turnover & rebuild it up for the season going on.
Coaches/GM's have been clear for ages each season is it's own thing.
Obviously there are teams that can do this way better than others, but each team is doing a fair bit of turning the roster over.
Only looking at starters:
The average is 8 new starters per team.
The best teams around 6.
Worst around 10.

We are not doing it this year; improve on last year record and build on that….
Why did we get the number 1 pick…. Because we are the worst team in NFL….
The future look bright; but we are not there yet

Kookaid, thanks I will stick to beer. No offense to the OP or anyone who is buying in but I want to see it on the field. I have been duped before.

The difference this time it looks like finally got a FO, HC choice seems well thought, Free agency well thought and executed and the draft the same well thought and executed. Now see what happens going forward through OTA's and especially when training camp starts.
BUT,
We've all been here done this for years. It all comes down to what happens on the field. If I see improved competent in game competition throughout each game, that will be a huge step forward.
Just waiting to see it on the field.

There was some optimism when McKenzie and Allen. I remember that McKenzie came highly recommended and Allen was the up and comin DE. We even got our "franchise QB" around that time.ELCAraiderfan wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 2:36 pm The difference this time it looks like finally got a FO, HC choice seems well thought, Free agency well thought and executed and the draft the same well thought and executed. I get it but, doesn’t every discussion have a little hopium in them? Obviously none of us can say for certain what’s gonna happen however I refuse to give up hope, especially now where it seems we’re headed in the right direction.Attyla wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 3:40 pm There was some optimism when McKenzie and Allen. Hope? Sure, but does it play into my expectations? Not in the least. I expect us to be 4th in the division again. I am not secure in that changing next year. We all know the bust rate for first round QBs and we all know the bust rate for first time HCs. We beat the odds, good for us. But the odds are not great for us. But that does not mean hope does not apply. It merely means I am a Show Me state fan at this point.Viper wrote: Sun May 17, 2026 4:31 pm I get it but, doesn’t every discussion have a little hopium in them? Isn't this the exact same thread theme as the one we have had here since April 29th titled "Realistic Expectations for this Season" which was started after the new coaching staff was named, free agency, and the draft?

This team has a ways to go. It can't help but be better than last season. That doesn't mean it's going anywhere soon..... and I'd be surprised if it did.... and very happy if it did.
