The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

DJ Glaze breakdown 5/29/26
Rewind 10 seconds 5 times each play to look at each player along the line. What a shit show.
32:40 Jack Bech and what he can do for you. Bech is going to play a bunch of passing downs and he walked into camp this year shredded.

Plus Kolton and JPJ were injured almost all of last season. Having them back with good coaching should make a world of difference.Viper wrote: Mon May 25, 2026 6:11 am Subtraction of Brennan Carroll and addition of Dennison is about as good a start to fixing the O line as we could have hoped for. That and competent play calling.

better coaching alone makes the line better, now add in kolton, jpj, tyler lindenbaum and a strong running game, we could be looking at top 15 or betterrich72 wrote: Fri May 29, 2026 7:56 pm Plus Kolton and JPJ were injured almost all of last season. Those guys being hurt seems to be the norm. Hopefully we can keep them on the fieldrich72 wrote: Fri May 29, 2026 7:56 pm Plus Kolton and JPJ were injured almost all of last season. Having them back with good coaching should make a world of difference.

I mentioned somewhere way back before the draft that we should address the Miller situation. I know he's one of the best in the league. I know he isn't "old" but, he seems to have a tendency now that he's "older" to get hurt more often and miss games. If he's healthy and ready to play.... hell yes, he should be the guy. But... at his age and recent injury history, there needs to be someone in the wings. I'm not sure Grant is that guy. I guess we'll see.... and hopefully we won't...lol.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Sat May 30, 2026 7:46 am Those guys being hurt seems to be the norm. Hopefully we can keep them on the field

^Not that he's the heir apparent but Zuhn can play LT plus. Probably one of the reasons we didn't draft Pregnon.

Dude looks like an old school Raider. He’s definitely a good start to getting back to a dominant O line.
Imagine a smart center who can read defenses and able to bark out assignments coupled with a very intelligent QB. Has the ability to make others around him better.

No one is due anything. That is a fallacy. There are things they can do to reduce the chance of injury but some bodies are just more prone to injury than others.

I think he was referring to general terms as far as odds go. At least that’s how I took it.Attyla wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 3:48 am No one is due anything. That is a fallacy. There are things they can do to reduce the chance of injury but some bodies are just more prone to injury than others.
Miller being in the trenches for many years and the fact he’s closer to the end than the beginning, the body just can’t keep doing it, no matter how much you train in the off season. I’m sure they have a plan in place but he’s still one of our best linemen.
With JPJ, concussions seem to be a real concern. There is literally nothing they can do to rehab those other than time but, risk of repeating them grows each time he gets one. Too bad really as he has some real potential.

Yeah, it seemed pretty tame to me as well. It sounded like the person he was quoting was simply doing nothing more than hoping that Kolton and JPJ might catch a break and be injury free this year.Viper wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 5:46 am I think he was referring to general terms as far as odds go. christian mccaffrey was injury prone, then he wasn't for a few yrs, got injured again and the next yr was on fire playing the most he ever played before for the niners...all players whom suffer injuries look for ways to mitigate injuries, they are professionals and wanna play, make an impact im sure our guys are the same (diet, stretching, work load management ect ect)raidersince63 wrote: Sun May 31, 2026 6:37 am Yeah, it seemed pretty tame to me as well. Before last year Miller missed 7 games total in 7 years. 5 of those 7 years he played full seasons. I wouldn’t say he’s injury prone. Last year sucked but it’s football and injuries happen
