The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft

Unread post by erickench »

Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year. :cuss:

If, BIG F@#$#@% IF, Taylor Decker was willing, I'd sign his ass in a hot minute!

Miller, Zuhn, Linderbaum, JPJ & Decker would give us our best OL in years. I don't give two shit how much he hasn't played RT!
He's better than any other cluck we got and that is plain as day. Yes, he is not what he once was but he'd better than what we got and it should give us overall better starting strength and better overall depth.

And for the record, I'm sure he hasn't signed because he is still wanting high end LT money and the Chiefs may end up giving it to him. Now, I don't think it'll happen, but I'd be 100% in favor of that move any day of the week and twice on Sunday!
For the he isn't a RT crowd, have you seen the shit show and results we've been throwing out there? Decker would like like an All-Pro again compared to that BS!

He will end up getting big money to play LT for a contender. He isn't coming to a rebuilding team and switch positions at this stage of his career

Taylor Decker has been fighting shoulder issues for a couple years now, multiple surguries, missed half of '24.

PFF Ratigs starting in '25 overall:
68 41 of 89
78 22 of 57
77
74
75
82
75

DJ Glaze
60
66
70 in college 83 pass block 2nd in big 10

And the situation:
Veteran left tackle Taylor Decker remains a free agent because he is selectively choosing his next destination, weighing retirement, and managing a lingering shoulder injury. After his release from the Detroit Lions in March following a contract dispute, his market has been quiet due to his age, recent dip in production, and limited scheme fits.

Wide Zone fit?
Yes, Taylor Decker is a solid fit for a wide zone scheme, primarily due to his massive 6'7", 310-pound frame, heavy hands, and his ability to generate movement on down blocks and double teams. However, his lack of elite lateral agility means he is better suited to right tackle than left.

So really does he want to come here? IMO I would sign him if an agreement could be made, only reason not is if they know they have the answer already at RT. He's coming to the end though.

I agreed with you that he will get a big contract to play LT and stated that he would not be interested to come to the Raiders. I understood everything and did not criticize.
When did Raider fans become such big whiney softies?

Using Raiderneil as a source? What in the serious f[raiders_icon]ck does "raiderneil" know about anything? He is not there, he is a fan.

I hope that Linderbaum will do what he did in Baltimore, but we know jack shit about what is happening. Hell, they have not even put on pads yet.

....just an overall feeling. but we had drafted what, at the time, after the last few drafts, some good talent and good value at the time they were picked., though with brutal coaching and no real plan, and including how to best utilize those new pieces, and when considering the added free agents at positions of real need, and now with far superior coaching who will do a far better job of utilizing some of the talent we drafted last year, and the year before, especially, as well as with the vet free agent additions, think this team is going to surprise much sooner than some here think.

(I don't need no stinkin' punctuation....)
