Just to be clear I meant 30 per yearSkullCrusher wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 3:06 pm For those numbers I'd be hot for. Imo Buc's and Vita won't do those numbers, not even close.

Him "tweaking" something tells me he is not likely to back down from his demands and the longer it drags on, the less likely the Bucs will get much more than a 4th at the most barring a injury to a contender. I'm all in on a 4th and a conditional 6th. We have plenty of cap space next year, don't really see why we couldn't offer a very competitive salary for a proven elite inside presence. Imo it would be the cherry on the top with all the other very solid additions to a defense that played very well despite our offensive woes. Saw a stat where we were near the top of the league in forcing 3 and outs. Better coach and offense, and a healthy #1 Brock, with a revamped o-line and Jeanty having better success behind that line, should make us a thorn in every opponents side. No reason why we can't parlay that into a playoff push for next year.
*Edit* Forced league leading 8 opening drive 3 and out
Achieved 38.4% success rate on drives preventing any first downs or scores
Mid pack in total 3 and outs forced

Yeah but why would Vea do that? It would only lower his value if they were saying that hes basically damaged goods. That doesnt make any sense for him to do, even for the team to do that would be dumb because they want trade picks, unless they are trying to keep him. I wanted to draft him way back when he was drafted, so I really like the guy, the Bucs forum also has nothing but admiration for him as well. He is getting long in the tooth though, the main question mark is how much it will take to get him, and if we think it will substantially make a difference for us in the short term.Hellbound wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 1:30 pm AKA we might be closing in on a trade partner, so we're holding him out for the near future

His cap number is just over 22M and this is his lame duck season. I don't think he is looking for a significant raise, just an extension. Obviously he is looking for more money, but I don't think a fat raise is in the cards at his age. Probably the guaranteed money is the sticking point with the Bucs. At his age, the guaranteed money is important because he knows his next deal might be his last deal. But if he is traded, he is likely getting an extension and the 22M per is probably around the right number. I could see a deal in the range of 4 years with a team option for a 5th. Guaranteed money in the range of 50M is probably about right as well. Maybe less but not by much would be my guess.

Beat me to the punch on this one. 31 isn't that old for a DT. It's reasonably safe to say that we could expect 3-4 good years out of him. We do want a younger team, but that doesn't mean we should ignore good veteran players.SuperRaider wrote: Tue Jul 28, 2026 3:28 pm Before everyone start saying Vea too old; Cam Heywood is 37 and he still the Steelers NT….think Vea still got a few years left in him…..
Good NT are hard to find in the NFL
I've seen this compared to something Gruden would've done because he over-relied on veterans, but I think that's a little misguided. We can have a good mix of vets and younger guys and still be successful in the long term.

Starting to like the idea of trading for him. Outside of a #1 WR and a right tackle, I'm not sure one position could improve the team more than adding a really good NT. As others have said he probably still has 3 or 4 years left.
All comes down to what they want in return. A 3 is too much. We'll see I guess.

Read that... the part I chuckled with he wants to go the west coast or Raiders, well did someone tell him going from Fl to CA is going to cost him state income tax? While it is a thing, fans over blow this by a lot imo.

I think they have to pay state income tax on where they play their game….so they collect 17 paycheck a season but if the game is played in a state that has state taxes; then they have to pay the taxes also….SkullCrusher wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2026 11:03 am Read that... the part I chuckled with he wants to go the west coast or Raiders, well did someone tell him going from Fl to CA is going to cost him state income tax? I could be wrong; but I am pretty sure that how their paycheck are work out….
So even the raider players have to pay state income tax; not the home games but on the road games they do…
