I love how people will say the team isn't going to be competitive until 3 years from now. Ha! That's insanity. Absolute insanity. I would venture to say that a healthy Vita Vea would have as much or even greater of an impact than Maxx Crosby. For simple minds, that does not mean their trade value would be the same. A dtackle that's a force against the run and pass is big time for a defense. Over 30 and needing a new contract hurts the trade value to a point. Tampa obviously knows his value to their defense but they have a QB to pay and a cap situation that isn't ideal

I said I don't have a problem with the draft pick. I have a problem with the draft pick and 35 million.Rabidraider wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 8:02 am 2nd or a 3rd. How many have we pissed away on garbage? At least you know you are getting a grade A top at position player.
That would leave us with around 12 million left over in cap space next year and having to replace at least five starters.

The 2027 NFL salary cap is currently projected to land around $323 million to $327 million per team, marking a projected increase of roughly $22 million to $26 million (an 7% to 8.5% jump) over the 2026 base cap of $301.2 million.haji81872 wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 11:25 am I said I don't have a problem with the draft pick. Plus 59 million that is available right now in 2027.
The cap experts on the team can make it work

A 3rd would be a no brainer. Since he said he wants to play for Vegas, maybe he gives a small discount to play for the team of his choice.

A 3rd rounder is not a top 3 or 4 pick.raiders72 wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 12:07 pm Do u have this right,
Let’s trade a Top 3 or 4 pick for a DT wrong side of 30 and still win 6 games ?
Brilliant strategy

Again, we have no idea what the Bucs would ask or if they are even interested in trading him. That team right now is poised to win their division if the cards fall right. You do not do that by shedding talent.

I really don't expect this deal to happen. But I think if the team were able to do a deal it would make the team tremendously better for a few years.Attyla wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 12:56 pm Again, we have no idea what the Bucs would ask or if they are even interested in trading him. I will now officially get off my Vea soap box...

Some of you are also not living in reality. Id actually give up a 3rd rounder but Bucs arent doing that deal. Id guess they are holding out for a 1st rounder if willing to trade him at all unless they are out of things at the deadline.

The Bucs will ultimately give him another 10 million for the season and see if that works just to get through this year. I can't imagine they'll trade him, but who knows how Vita and his agent will react to that scenario.
Regardless of Vita and Raider interest or not, the team needs at minimum a run plugger in the middle. I can't imagine they'd go into week 1 with a bunch of 3 techs at DT. Shuffling through the scrap heap has a minimal chance of shoring up that spot. A trade has to happen and/or a pickup during final cuts. If they want to run odd fronts at all they likely need two run pluggers. Any team that runs the 3-3-5/3-4 variations has multiple big bodies who can anchor the run. It's a fools errand to not have a few of them

This was always going to be the ending. He wasn't going anywhere and certainly not for a 3rd. Bucs have said they were not trading g him from day 1

Said the same thing...Vea is a great player but I always thought that he'd resign with TB.Xramfan wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2026 4:11 pm He was never going elsewhere.

Rob Leonard cant even use what he has right now, he needs to prove himself with what we got first before bringing in anymore high priced players.
