Raiders Go To Texas Tonight, The Game Day Thread
So here is another look at the new team, and hopefully the view is better, especially on the D.
What are you watching, what are you wanting, and most importantly we need to get out of there without harm to anyone.
Time to see more, and hopefully a few of the youngsters start to shine.

It's one thing to accept shortcomings, it's quite another to be cheerful about shitting the bed against 2nd and 3rd stringers. Oh, and f[raiders_icon]ck his dreams--assuming you know what his aspirations are. The kid needs to understand that this isn't bullshit. This can't be an NFL player who puts his happy face on this franchise. He should be embarrassed and determined to get better.NewEraX25 wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 10:14 pm You seem to be taking this pretty hard. Happy people living their dreams makes you that mad huh?

Maybe Mendoza should get some lessons from Carr about not putting on his happy face. Should make Opoponax happy knowing he's taking it serious then.

Well seen KR30. I saw that as well watching replay after the game. Would have been right on the numbers had he sat instead of fading away from the pass. Having said that. Go ahead and get a f[raiders_icon]cking interception rook. Let it stoke the fire. There will be more. Not a QB in the Hall with zero INT’s. Besides, it’s f[raiders_icon]cking preseason. At least he tried stopping the TD instead of pointing and yelling at Washington or laying on the ground full fetal pretending to be injured. I f[raiders_icon]cking love that he’s our QB. Btw, he smiles cause he loves football and because he’s not so stupid as to bawl his eyes out over an INT in the second preseason game of his entire career.KillerRaider30 wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 9:03 pm Learning lesson for Washington who didn't sit down in the zone but slid to his right. The pass was right between his numbers if he didn't slide.
They ran the same play with 23 seconds left in the 1st half, Washington didn't slide to his right, and it went for 9 yards. The pick 6 was not on Fernando.
Btw, there are some miserable moaning quims in this f[raiders_icon]cking thread. One of ‘em shouldn’t even be here. Should be on a f[raiders_icon]cking Bruin forum. Start a TRT program asap, or ask your doctor about Prozac. f[raiders_icon]cking whiners. We’re gonna lose some in the regular season too. Have the missus, if she hasn’t packed-up and left with the kids already, hide the sharp objects.
Benson over Thornton for everyone with eyes and a brain. Btw, have we seen them competing? No? Why is that? Besides Benson being a better WR in every way, there’s Thornton’s whole participation thing he’s having trouble with. Same thing that will make JPJ a backup.
I’m happy to see a new regime, a fantastic looking rookie QB, phenomenal f[raiders_icon]cking backfield. We are actually rebuilding, not some horseshit “retooling”. It takes time. As long as Doofus stays away and lets football people run the show, we’re looking at an actual modern day football organization. The wins will come, and so will some losses. Suck it up buttercups.
Also, Defenses take longer than offenses to warm up. Happens every year. Offenses come out of the gate like thoroughbreds in the beginning of the season. All the TV talking-heads going on about how offensive records are going to fall in the NFL. Then we get to around week 5 and shit balances out. And that’s for the actual good Defenses not starting predominantly rookies and second-years. Good God man, it’s like some have never been here before. Welcome to football.
Go Raiders.

Our defense is going to be bottom 5. That's objective reality. Nothing you say will change that.
And no, Benson is not better than Thorton. Thorton looked better in practice and preseason last year.

Is anyone really surprised by last night. We are not a good team (being honest). We did not play any starters. We have holes in our starting units and have zero depth (other than TE and RB). I was actually happy with last night. Little injury risk to key players. Kids were auditioning to make the team. We got to see some camp heroes (and if they are for real or not). It seems like every year there are heroes and it rarely comes to fruition for the regular season.
Finally, Fernando blows and he will be released. I can't believe there is already negativity about him.

Anybody hating Mendoza at this point is just silly. The Texans are a program that’s been together under the same defense for a few years now. We are in a whole new system. The int was thrown to a guy who maybe should have sat down instead of drifting.
The biggest part he needs to clean up is he kept taking hitch steps away. He had room to step up to the right. The number one overall pick in 98 broke the interception record and then went on to win a few games in his career

Fernando played with poise again eventhough his receivers failed him at critical times even on the pick 6, liked how how he didn't flinch when facing pressure and delivered some strikes. Like to see what he can do with a better line and talent at the skilled positions, future looks bright. As bad as our defense played the first half, the dbs played much better this week with some strong tackling especially from Stukes.
This will be a development year for the team. Looks like we may be picking higher in next years draft than I thought, I aint mad about that to be honest.

....new players, new system, and the players here from last year, and including some kids with promise, were coached backwards last year, and with Mendoza, you see some good, and obviously, some stuff he has to clean up, though I also think he was also consistently dealing with more people in his space than he could with the starters in front of him.
...either way, realistically, with the new system and coaching, and a lot of moving parts, I wouldn't expect us to get a real sense of what we have at this time, or not, until 4-5 weeks in to the season.
