Not at all. I take Mahomes out because the comments were they were feeding Mahomes, so I took him out to see if the spending reflected that. And the comments were featuring free agent and resigning players added.mstrbass2000 wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 10:45 am you would have to take out chris jones then too, kc let their starting cbs go last yr by trading off one cb and letting one walk...spags has done an excellent job drawing up defense for kc

Bills are at 64% on offense and 36% on defense so clearly he has an amazing supporting cast according to that logoc.

The NFL average is 56% on offense. A better way is to look at league rank.
Chiefs even with Mahomes rank 15th in offensive spending according to overthecap.
They rank 8th on defense. So chiefs relative to the league are both spending more on defense and using more top draft picks on defense.
Now ill give you that in past years they did spend relatively more on offense.

KC lost 6 starters on the defensive side of the ball in the last 2 years alone via trade or FA. They used some of the draft capital and cap space acquired on the offensive side of the ball. In short, they took away from the defensive side of the ball to feed the offensive side of the ball.

Since Allen was drafted (2018), the Bills offensive picks in the first 2 rounds were:
- RB in the 2nd
- OL in the 2nd
- TE in the first
- WR in the 2nd
Since Mahomes was drafted (2017), the Chiefs offensive picks in the first 2 rounds were:
- WR in the 2nd
- RB in the 1st
- OL in the 2nd
- WR in the 2nd
- WR in the 2nd
- WR in the 1st
- OL in the 2nd
- OL in the 1st
Come on now. Even Ray Charles can see the disparity.

Context is needed. Who did they lose each of those years to prompt the team to do that?

You can look it up. The pendulum is even far greater for offensive FA's signed by KC after PM vs offensive FA's signed by the Bills since drafting Allen. The point is the Chiefs have fed the Mahomes machine far greater than the Bills have done with Allen (and its not even close).Attyla wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 12:47 pm Context is needed. I agree...I don't pull for AFC teams playing NFC opponents until we are officially out of the post season...it's counter productive!Goodtimes333 wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 9:58 am f[raiders_icon]ck the Bills and their choking asses. I can't believe they didn't can Mcdermott a few years before they did. Their recent playoff runs/success are no different than their 4 straight super bowl losses, just smaller scale. How many times have they choked against KC & then Denver last year on top of it? It's insane how they've come up short year in and out with Allen at QB.
Also I remember the Jason Campbell year where the Raiders were cooking early in the season. Week 3-4 they played at Buffalo & went up 24-0 only to have Fitzpatrick & the Bills come back to win it. Speaking of choking lol. I was not alive to see the 51-3 thrashing but I've read about it. That's thrown in also. Any AFC team I basically dislike. I like watching the Bengals play ball so, perhaps the Bengals I don't outright dislike. Unless they're in competition against the Raiders for something

The Bills are my second favorite team. Raiders #1, anyone playing the Chiefs, Bolts, Broncos, and Pats are #2.Goodtimes333 wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 9:58 am f[raiders_icon]ck the Bills and their choking asses. If your argument is the Chiefs have built better teams around Mahomes than Allen then yes they have but you are cherry picking data. Chiefs had far more PREMIUM picks used on defense but thats because they have done much much better building draft assets than the Bills. But I do not agree with the argument that the chiefs have focused on offense more than defense. They've built complete teams

Honestly in most years neither guy has had great weapons, but should we just pretend that the Bills didn't trade a first for Diggs or a 2nd for Moore? Also just because there's an investment in a position in FA or the draft, that doesn't mean it was a good decision. The Chiefs have had some big swings and misses in FA and the draft at WR and OL. The Bills have had some big misses at WR, but have been better at bolstering the OL.RI RAIDER wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 12:42 pm Since Allen was drafted (2018), the Bills offensive picks in the first 2 rounds were:

There was a time when Mahomes was just a ridiculously good QB, and it's not all coaching, the system or the supporting cast. He looks a lot more ordinary at the moment, and I hope that continues. Right now Allen is just better.

You are the one trying to make the case. I think you are lacking some very significant context. The spending on both sides of the ball do not suggest that they are favoring one side over the other in some desire to placate Mahomes. Now, do I think Reid wants his offense to be the best in the league? I surely do. And does money drive that? Again, yes it does. And do I think teams tend to draft more offensive players higher in the draft? In recent drafts yes I can make that case. 2024 is a perfect example of that.RI RAIDER wrote: Fri Sep 18, 2026 12:51 pm You can look it up. But who you lose either to free agency or retirement will drive your draft. Because as much as we talk about best player available we also know that need drives who you think is the best available. And that is the information you are not looking at to get a more clear picture.

One thing the Bills coaching staff needs to do, no matter how much Josh Allen loves to run and all the talking heads love to say it, even at him being 6'5" 235, if he keeps running and taking hits like he does he will wear out by the playoffs or get injured. This was only 2nd game of the year and Allen took some hits on his runs that I would prefer my franchise quarterback not take. Also as he gets older as we all know you don't recover as fast or shake it off as well. So if Buffalo wants to do anything and make it to a Super Bowl they need him to back off all the running....imo.

The refs have screwed them over in the AFC championship several times, in Raider-like fashion
