The Chargers Host Our Raiders Game Day Thread
Well, here is the first test of the season. We play the second half of the game day schedule.
Chargers are favored by 6.5 points
Over/Under is 43.5
Last game the Chargers got rocked by the Cardinals 26-14. The Raiders beat the Dolphins 27-13 in what could be considered a tune up game.

The Bolts were embarrassed last week.
There gonna come out and try to chop our heads off.
This will be a real test for us.
I have gut feeling this is going to be a close game.
Go Raiders!!!!!!!!!

Blocking and tackling. Football still is generally one or lost on the two most fundamental principles. Do those things well and you’ll have a chance. And previous years we have not done those two things well at all.

It shouldn't be a problem for a player as talented as the fans claim Mike Washington is to spell Jeanty so he's never tired to point of averaging 0.5 ypc.Rabidraider wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 5:47 am I'm waiting on Mike Washington's first regular season blow the doors off type game.
On the Chargers: This is a winnable game for the Raiders contrary to popular opinion. A healthy Bowers and it's strongly in the Raiders favor. Let's see what the defense is able to do, and whether or not the offense can take what they want on the ground.

It was week 1 with 5 new starters in our back 7 I am stoked at how well they played as a whole. Breakdowns happen for almost every team especially when the QB can run. With that being said I am quite happy with week one but, I don’t expect that to be the case for the majority of the year. I just want to show progress throughout the year and last week was a damn good start. The next few weeks probably won’t look as good.
We will know soon if Cousins is shot as today will be a real test against a pretty good team.

I honestly don't know what to expect.
I don't think the Chargers are as bad as they looked last week, or maybe the Cards are better than anyone thought.
The Dolphins are arguably the worst team in the league; bottom three for sure. But it was a game we were supposed to win and we did so effectively.
IOW, last week didn't tell us much about either team.
The only thing I'll predict is that it will be a competitive game.

I think in reality the only way it would be strongly in the Raiders favor against this caliber of team is if Bowers is healthy and Mendoza has started and proven he’s a franchise Qb. The only way we get there is having the kid play and surrounding him with proven talent at the WR position and the O line continues to show out under Dennison.mranquales wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 8:00 am It shouldn't be a problem for a player as talented as the fans claim Mike Washington is to spell Jeanty so he's never tired to point of averaging 0.5 ypc.

If the O line shows it can protect the QB so we don't kill our new toy, then I'm ready for Mendoza to start and deal with the learning curve and the bad games.
Say week 4....

Similar to Rick in Bakersfield I think the Chargers want to make a statement after last week. I think they will play with an edge.
Having said that, win or lose, I want the Raiders to look well coached, I want to see creative schemes and a Raiders team developing an identity. If the Raiders beat the dolts, that would be pleasing

I agree. With Mendoza at QB and a WR1 in the first round, I don't see how the Raiders aren't competitive next year. This will sound like hyperbole, but it really should be the Raiders and Chiefs battling for the top spot in the division for the next 3 years.Viper wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 8:07 am I think in reality the only way it would be strongly in the Raiders favor against this caliber of team is if Bowers is healthy and Mendoza has started and proven he’s a franchise Qb. Yea I agree. I've seen some automatically discounting the Chargers after last week. Maybe they aren't the best team in the conference or our division, however they are still a more talented and better team than what we are fielding. Plus until further notice, Harbaugh is the better hcXramfan wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 8:41 am Similar to Rick in Bakersfield I think the Chargers want to make a statement after last week. This is almost a must win for the Chargers. They do not want to start the season 0-2 with loses against the 2 easiest games in their schedule and both at home. I think they are going to play a good game today as their backs are against the wall.

Their schedule gets brutal really quick with Seahawks, bills, ravens, chiefs. They have like a six game gauntlet coming up.RI RAIDER wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 9:43 am This is almost a must win for the Chargers. I love how everyone assumes it was Jeanty who was blown. I watched him and he was fine, I think it was the line. The Dolphins were throwing everything they could to stop the run.mranquales wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 8:00 am It shouldn't be a problem for a player as talented as the fans claim Mike Washington is to spell Jeanty so he's never tired to point of averaging 0.5 ypc.

Getting blown during the game will definitely reduce their tenacity and aggressiveness. Wait until after the gameAttyla wrote: Sun Sep 20, 2026 10:11 am I love how everyone assumes it was Jeanty who was blown. I watched him and he was fine, I think it was the line.
