The Off. Line - Complaints, Fixes, Questions, Draft
Mike Tice once said while coaching for the Raiders: “If you look at the offense like a fancy car, the offensive line is the engine. Even though we might have nice spinners and nice rims and tinted windows and some neat paint job, it doesn’t mean crap without the engine. If the engine’s not working, the car might look like a pretty nice car, but it’s a piece of crap.” And he was 100% right. I wish we had him back. Changes must be made on the O-line. Charles Grant is a very athletic lineman. We should give him some reps at right tackle. Bring back Powers-Johnson as the starter at center. Parham has got to go. Maybe we should consider moving Meredith back to guard. He did so well there last year.

I think they like Rogers at RG and Zuhn at LG if and when it comes to it.

New coaches and scheme but the OL continues to get totally dominated in the run game as it has for years. Both RB's yesterday were getting contacted in the backfield on the majority of their carries. So weird how three different coaching staffs have had absolutely abysmal results trying to run the ball. Not even Linderbaum has made a difference here.

I still think ita lack of talent. You can only coach up players so much. At some point they either level up or they don't. Im still for giving Rogers & Grant a chance as they haven't had extensive playing time, but JPJ can go as he's injury prone and imo an average, replaceable player and Burford is a reserve at best. I know people on here are clamoring for the sexy wr skill position pick but I would love to see most of our PREMIUM picks used on oline and dline for that matter. We need a talent upgrade in those spotsheavyD wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2026 5:56 am New coaches and scheme but the OL continues to get totally dominated in the run game as it has for years. Our guards are ass and should not be starting. Unfortunately, it is what it is. I would love to give some pups a chance because they can not do any worse. KK's offense is predicated on being able to run up the middle. You can see what an impressive offensive mind KK has with his play calling. Unfortunately, the suckage of our guards is not allowing him to open up the entire playbook. We are almost there and I am not sweating it. We all knew this may be a tough year. With better talent at the guard positions and a better #1 WR, this offense is going to hummmmm and be tough for any DC to deal with.

Id also add that while Glaze had a good few games, he came back down to earth yesterday and struggled a bit. So far, the concerns on the oline outside of lt & center, are still ringing true

...I think that glaze will be fine.....last year was a waste, and this year is really his first year in that starting role, with competent coaching. ....there will be bumps, as his job isn't an easy one, and the results of every play are magnified.Hellbound wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2026 6:29 am Id also add that while Glaze had a good few games, he came back down to earth yesterday and struggled a bit. The interior oline is making it look like Jeanty was a bad pick and it is hard to blame any rb who is getting tackled 3 yards behind the LOS. Kubiak's offense is based on establishing the run, the fact we've won 3 games without a running game is remarkable.
JPJ flashed some promise in his first year but he's regressed significantly since then. He's been Carrolled and I'm pessimistic of his chances of coming back from it. Such a shame.
Burford I had no expectations of good play from but was hoping he'd be serviceable. Sadly not.
It might be time to throw Rogers/Zuhn/Grant in there. They can't be any worse.

jeanty has only played one decent game this yr...i think its time to make a few moves to shore up the oline and get a wr that can threaten the field, everybody knows we got shit at wr and compress the defense to stop the run

...I think that they 'compress the field' more due to knowing that cousins is no longer comfortable throwing long, as from what I saw, we had our chances in that respect, and they were giving us it due to knowing we were less likely to try and take it, despite it being there.
...I would be interested to see that from an overhead view, as I swear their safeties were often coming forward early, and leaving guys wide open. deep on some of those routes...

KC's defense is bad if we are being honest. In fact, they may have one of the easiest D's we are going to face (despite the genius of Spags) for the remainder of the year. I think the Chiefs were stacking the outside more to contain BB while daring us to try to run up the middle. This makes what BB did (getting checked, bumped, and pressed the entire game by multiple defenders) even more incredible. Unfortunately it shows how bad the interior of the line has played in regards to run blocking. Nobody would have been able to run with our line. Granted Jeanty is not 100% but our backs were getting hammered 2-3 yards before the line of scrimmage. When we tried to run outside, our backs were met with a slurry of defenders (far more guys than blockers could handle). On a positive not, KK made adjustments and our running game was far more effective in the 2nd half.

I disagree, even with the 27 we put up they are 6th in points allowed per game. They were 6th last year despite their poor record. They added a stud rookie corner and look to have a very good defense again (largely cause of fantastic coaching)

If and when Mendoza is capable, his legs will be a dynamic that Kirk does not have. If Kirk had Mendoza's younger body he could of ran numerous times for decent yardage including some first downs.

I don't know. We put up 27 and the Colts put up 30 at KC. Miami lost their best player (Achane) early in the game and the Broncos offense has looked bad this season (26th in the league).DanKD wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2026 1:43 pm I disagree, even with the 27 we put up they are 6th in points allowed per game. Its relative to NFL 2026 where offense is favored in the rules and even the best defenses will often give up cloae to 30. I think KC definitely has a top 10 defenseRI RAIDER wrote: Mon Oct 05, 2026 1:57 pm I don't know. We put up 27 and the Colts put up 30 at KC.
