No clue where to post some stuff not necessarily team related but could be? Feel free to delete if this belongs somewhere else.
Maxx and Parsons would be nasty. I probably wouldn’t pay the price though.

And Tay Train still hasn't gotten his apologymranquales wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 4:50 pm What about Murray? He had a nice long career unlike 99% at his position. He averaged over 4 ypc for his career as well.
If anything, Murray is the example that I know exactly what I'm talking about when it comes to running backs.

He was a starter on the Raiders. He was a starting RB for the Bills before he retired. Denver Broncos are RB by committee team and that's been their identity for decades.Attyla wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 5:01 pm You know shit. You constantly said he was a great RB who was blackballed. You said he was a starter who was relegated to a backup situation by NFL politics
Again, you know shit
Do your research before you just spew anything to engage in a back and forth.
99% of RB's don't make it 10 years. Murray did. That FACT alone makes him a great RB. He also ended his career averaging more per carry than Most RB's. That FACT alone makes him a great RB. His career long run is more than 99% of RB's. More FACTS.
The evidence supports that you were wrong about Murray, and I was right. Go cry about it.

If a good running back sticks around ten years, that doesn't make him a great running back. That makes him a good running back who stuck around ten years. Nothing more, nothing less.mranquales wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 5:19 pm99% of RB's don't make it 10 years. Murray did. That FACT alone makes him a great RB.
And the only player you've ever been right about was Tyree Wilson. Yay for you. Have a cookie.

For those interested in facts, Murray ranks at #141 all time at yards per attempt.
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ ... career.htm
A look at that shows the running backs listed, most fall between 4.0-4.3 per attempt as the majority (at least according to the list). Its when you get above 4.4 is where it starts to separate.
Its important to note a few running QBs are on there like Vick, Cunningham, Allen and Jackson, etc but that doesn't materially change the data. QBs generally have less attempts and those that run could have longer runs that bring the average up is the most likely reason.

Murray was a great teammate and locker room guy and coaches loved him. He just wasn't a great player. He lasted 10 years because he was a decent player and great guy. Great player was never part of the equation. Taiwan Jones played 13 seasons.

Also for all, the notion that he was a starter elsewhere? If we go by games started as listed below its apparent that his first year in Minnesota was the last as as starter in 2017. After that his starts varied to at best starting about half the games he played in for any of the various teams.
Verdict? Another claim that doesn't really stand up to scrutiny.

Some more devil in the details:
Murray rushing for 6,552 years doesn't look all that bad on the surface, but when you dive in? His best year was 2015 where he had 1066 yards, the only time he broke 1,000 for a season. That represents 16% of his total career yards in one season.
His awesome long run against the Chiefs of 90 yards? He ran for 424 that season, in other words one run accounted for 21% of his yards for an entire season.
How about touchdowns? 54 rushing TDs. Now that looks pretty darn good at face value but once again? Devil in the details. He got 12 of those in a single season (2016) that's 22% of his TDs in one season. Now 54 total? Nothing to shy away from thats good but is also a function perhaps of how he was used (goal line etc) post Raiders (he had 45 or so of those post 2016).
So if we bring all this together? Murray was most productive in 2015 and 2016 and after that tapered off. In fact the seasons after he left he averages out to the following across multiple teams: 6 rushing TDs per season, 719 yards a season. In all that's pretty respectable for a guy drafted in the 6th round. Oh and averaged on a 16 game season? That's about 44 yards per game.
That also points to a guy that was a starter early in his career then bounced around to five other teams. For a 6th round pick that's pretty darn good value but context matters.

Heh, while crunching numbers? A RB needs to average 58.8 yards per game to reach 1,000 for a season. Crazy to think when guys were doing that in 12 or 14 game seasons.
Case in point OJ (yes I know, lets focus on him as a football player), during that 2000 yard season in 1973? He was averaging 143.1 yards per game, that's insane.
The total per game split is likewise crazy:
