Is it Mendoza time???
We are on a 4 game losing skid, and I think it's time to put KC out to pasture...with that said all this talk of Mendoza getting destroyed is ridiculous...hell KC has somehow come out unscathed after 7 games what makes people think a mobile QB will fare worse...we aren't going anywhere with KC! It's time to get the kid some real game time experience & see what life with Mendoza entails!

Maybe then some will fade away and not have to face the factsCruisin with Tooz wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 3:23 pm Cousins is on a 1-year deal. We arent resigning him no matter what. The only reason to continue playing Cousins is if you think we can make the playoffs. We would presumably need a 10-7 record for that. Where do you see 7 more wins? Ill spot you CLE,TEN, SD, NYJ and ARZ. That makes 8 wins if we were to sweep those 5 games, which is no small feat in and of itself. Best case scenario is that still leaves us needing 2 more wins from DENx2, KC, SF and SEA. Playoffs arent a realistic possibility after the loss to the Rams. Time to face the facts. Facing up aint easy when youre whole world is black.

I would say we aren't beating Cleveland at this point.... or Arizona.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 3:23 pm Cousins is on a 1-year deal. We arent resigning him no matter what. The Raiders have a 63.2% completion percentage overall this season. Against man coverage, that drops to 48.6%, fourth worst in the NFL.
When the box is stacked Cousins ain't getting it done...Start Mendoza for better or worse...He needs reps and we don't need to handle another QB with kid gloves...personally I think they're afraid to possibly create a QB controvercy or maybe they told Cousins he would start all year or most of it barring injury "behind closed doors".

100% but as fans it is worthy of discussion/opinion.haji81872 wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 8:20 pm Whatever Kubiaks plan was stick to it. Fans wants are irrelevant.

Honestly I think it gets under appreciated what Kirk’s been able to do. He’s leading the league in passing TDs and 3rd in yards. And that’s with maybe the worst receiving core in the league and the 31st ranked ground game. Our offence is 6th in points per game.Rainman56 wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 7:17 pm The Raiders have a 63.2% completion percentage overall this season. Once our season is officially dead… I think Mendo comes in. But prior to that, it’s hard to argue that Mendoza gives us a better chance to salvage the season. Not definitively, but generally Kirk’s been almost unfathomably productive given how weak the overall offensive personnel is.

He needs to scrap some of his game day calling plan too. Sometimes you need to adjust thingshaji81872 wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 8:20 pm Whatever Kubiaks plan was stick to it. Fans wants are irrelevant.

I don’t think you make the change on an east coast early game week. At this point barring injury I don’t see it before the bye. After the bye is 3 straight home games. Right now 4 of the next 5 are on the road.

IMO, if we had a running and by extension a better offensive line, there would be far fewer calls to bench Cousins. If that was the case, starting Mendoza the last few games would be logical. Who knows we might even be a bubble team for the playoffs come December. The Raiders would be learning how to win and Mendoza would be ready to step in if needed. Having another bad season makes everyone restless.

....there would also be less calls to 'bench'cousins ', were it not for having the #1 pick, and out potential, finally, 'franchise quarterback', waiting in the wings at that position.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 4:43 am IMO, if we had a running and by extension a better offensive line, there would be far fewer calls to bench Cousins. ...I can see both sides of the getting Mendoza in there discussion, and personally, I would like to see him in there sooner, rather than later, and in part, with the hopes of next season not being merely a 'get the kid up to speed' year, as, as sharp as the kid might appear to be, there will be some growing pains, or whatever you would like to call them.
...I also think the timing does matter, at least for his first start, if he isn't pressed in to service sooner due to injury.

If our defense was good. Cousins would be on a Wheaties box.

Ya, to be clear I want Mendoza to start. The point I was trying to make is “not his fault” is not good enough for Kirk, either he is winning or he should be benched so Mendoza can gain experience.Attyla wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 11:52 am How many games of "we aren't winning" is that? For me that is 4 straight.
And as I said at the bottom of my post, I think we are getting to the point where the “winning with Kirk” plan is starting to fade, and reps for Mendoza would be better (and hey, maybe that will lead to more wins, Mendoza has less experience but more athletic ability).
I thought it could’ve been this game tbh — I live outside of NYC, and I was starting to scout tickets for the Jets game until Klint named Kirk the starter yesterday. I think we could see Mendoza any week, I’m a little disappointed it didn’t happen this week, I was hoping to catch his first start live

I was a bit surprised that the decision fell the way it did. I thought Cousins looked tired and broken down a bit in the first half. Second half Kubiak made a few adjustments and he looked better. But his passes just look slow out there. Like I have said, blindly trusting that a new coaches decisions are going to be correct flies in the face of reality. We will literally likely cycle through a third of coaches who make the wrong decisions pretty much every year. I bought into the Carroll hype and it bit me in the butt. I am now in a "trust the results" not the decisions mode.Raiders Baby wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 7:32 am Ya, to be clear I want Mendoza to start.
