NFL Trade Deadline

Post by LayneStaley »

Ok maybe this doesn’t need its own thread but the deadline is 5 weeks away. I know the next couple weeks will determine if we are buyers but let’s say we get to 5-2 do we make a move?

I really wish we still had Jakobi here but it sounds like a few guys might be available…

Brian Thomas Jr
Marvin Harrison Jr
Jerry Jeudy

Thoughts?

I tried to post a gif of Carvey doing his Bush Sr. impression but I'm too technically incompetent. Anyway, I'm glad someone got the joke.

Simmons trade upped Maxx’s value imo.

Tough one to call. Edges are typically more valuable but Simmons is in territory you almost never see. I think Maxx is worth two picks but then again his contract is a lot easier to handle than Jeremy's.

Another Simmons, the oft-injured KC OT Josh, may soon be on the market. An apparent heated exchange with Reid had occurred.

Per Chiefs Planet (they have a long thread on him) I think the general consensus is he is elite when healthy and wants to play but the knock on him is his injury of course but also his character. Apparently even his college draft profile noted a red flag would be his desire to put in the work needed in the NFL.

byron young abd colbie turners r targets for any d line both are studs
New Orleans the last five years suggests otherwise. They are paying the price for "just one more piece" for Brees at the end of his career.

They finally emerge from it next year but with an aging roster, bad draft picks and no depth.

We’re gonna get 5… I just read “The Secret”.

You can see the influence of Madden in this thread… the video game.

In a historical reenactment of Bears/Titans/Simmons trade… the Raiders would be cast as the Titans.

I would be happy with a 1 and a 3. Will we see the Maxx this week we all have seen wreaking havoc in the backfield, pressuring the QB and getting a sack or two? Or will it be the Maxx from that last couple of games?

There is one way out of the mire that this organization is in and that's drafting smartly and correctly. At this stage there is talent on this team. And that talent that is here? We need every bit of it, whether they are here or not five years from now (for instance).

While it feels great to say "trade Maxx" that weakens us short term and creates no guarantees longer term.

We need to get to a point where we are rewarding our draft picks with a second contract because they have played well enough to warrant it. As of right now? Its seems the only place that seems to pick up our cast offs is New Orleans.

Note: As much as I wanted Nelson at guard it was not the right move (he was never going to come here anyway.)
Not an unpopular opinion with me.

Although I am all for trading him I can certainly see the benefit of retaining him. One of those, would be the possibility of getting more for him in the offseason next year as opposed to now. And of course there is the fact that they attempted to trade him before the season even started knowing it wouldn't be beneficial for the team this year. I'm thinking they are thinking to get while the getting is good.

Maxx has been for the most part been taken out of the last 4-5 games because other teams see he is the only possible threat on Raiders D line. So he is getting double teamed on almost every play. The rest of the line doesn't worry anyone

Maybe Spytek can fleece a pick from a desperate team for JPJ
