Classy response.Sold My Soul wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 9:54 pm Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby addressed the move during the latest episode of the Let’s Go! podcast.
“I haven’t had time to really process it, to be honest,” Crosby told host Jim Gray. “I just found out. I’m here in the building and I literally see it pop up on the TV. So it was kind of gloomy, I would say. It’s something that I’ve been a part of before, but just to speak on Pete, this season didn’t go the way we expected it at all. From the players to the coaches, I don’t think anybody expected we would be in this position and getting the number one pick, to be honest.
“But I will say, you know, the one thing I did admire about Pete is he was, I mean, consistent as they come. He has won for such a long time. He is a Super Bowl champion. He won a national championship at USC. He has been an incredible coach, and he has had an incredible journey. So unfortunately this thing didn’t work out the way we expected it but he has done an incredible job and had an incredible career, and he was always awesome to me. Still gonna have that relationship regardless. Had a lot of coaches in my time to say the least, but all of those coaches, you take something from them, you learn something from them. And just we’re back to the process again and trying to figure out whatever that’s gonna be. I wish him the best. Like I said, he was always incredible to me and treated me amazing. Big shout out to Coach Pete and we’ll see what happens next.”

What's that got to do with my assessment of Brady? Just when we think we reach the bottom, we always seem to say 'hold my beer'. So im not anointing Brady as some kind of savior yet but I did say im willing to let him try. I just want the effort.

I don’t get the Hondo hate on hereDanKD wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 11:55 am But you will see seven two hour long videos from Hondo saying absolutely nothing with no inside info
I find that 85% of the shit he says is accurate.
He’s just careful about exposing where his leaks are coming from, as he should. He’s the best beat writer I can remember.
He said only MD could save PC’s job but didn’t think MD would override a firing and 48 hours later, PC was fired
What’s the issue with his reporting?

??? Where else would you get experience running an NFL franchise? Being an oil tycoon’s grandson?ELCAraiderfan wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 3:01 pm Oh lord this franchise is a complete cluster fck.
Lets start all over again for the millionth time in 25 years....so glad that this team has become nothing to me compared to what it was 20 years ago.
So who's the fcking coach going to be this time?
and fck tom brady. ex players are very rarely any good at running football organizations. just because they won playing doesn't translate into knowing how the fck to manage everything.

I think it’s probably a personal take, at least for me. He gives me the Chris Collinsworth vibes where I just can’t stand to listen to them.NoClapsPlease wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 6:53 am I don’t get the Hondo hate on here

Usually Hondo’s takes can be said by almost any 12 year old, he just doesn’t ever give anything solid. I would give more merit to most opinions on this board over his.

I agree, he has as much insight as any other reporter, maybe more. It's more the delivery, at least for me. His aww shucks, midwestern charm bullshit annoys the hell out of me, as well as the constant self congratulations he gives himself. also, he needs to learn to be more concise in his delivery.NoClapsPlease wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 6:53 am I don’t get the Hondo hate on here

You just said the issue. He’s saying nothing. “Pete will likely be fired unless he isn’t”. And to get to that you have to to hear 30 minutes of bullshit.NoClapsPlease wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 6:53 am I don’t get the Hondo hate on here

I’m sure Hondo is a nice guy doing what he feels is good work but I think his relationships with players and coaches keep him from being unbiased and critical. He then becomes more the homer/cheerleader than a journalist.
I’ll not forget his infamous “Carr is a top 5 QB” line lol

True, but I believe we would still be in the same spot with any other coach considering non of the big names wanted to be here, and Sam would have retired if he was behind this line.

He also says that Parham is a "great" guard. I think you're exactly right that he lets the relationships color his view of the play on the field. Nice guy, useless info.Xramfan wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 9:36 am I’m sure Hondo is a nice guy doing what he feels is good work but I think his relationships with players and coaches keep him from being unbiased and critical. Darnold was a bust until he landed in MinnesotaSold My Soul wrote: Mon Jan 05, 2026 9:18 pm Brady also didn't want Sam Darnold....guess he liked Geno Smith better.
Seattle gambled and won year 1
I wouldn’t have taken that gamble with the $$ they paid him.
Far as Smith, mo is, Carrol made the call to trade for him and it all backfired
It’s all in the past brother, let’s look to the future

Hondo's track record is not great. I don't have a hard data on his track record but he was one of the guys who loudly and proudly reported Ben Johnson and the Raiders were a done deal. The rest of the time, the majority of what he says is either a bad football take, or so long winded that I can barely stay awake for him to arrive at a point.
