NoThanksSir wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 11:58 am Maxx has been publicly grappling with the idea of him not retiring a Raider for years now. He has a podcast episode where he records himself questioning his future if the Raiders didn't hire Antonio Pierce.
Had there been social media during the 1987 NLPA strike the Raider players would have been calling out teammates, coaches, ownership. It would have been a shitshow. Townsend was calling Howie Long "Gone Hollywood" in the LA Times. Marc Wilson was about the be strung up on a rail and tossed off a pier in Huntington Beach. Al Davis called Marcus a terminal disease and exiled him to Chino. Marcus ended up languishing and Wilson was sent to waivers in the offseason but the rest of the team more or less worked it out.

Not sure how much credence should be given to emotional rants. Kubiak will buff it out.

Im fine keeping or moving him for a good haul. Whatever Kubiak and Spytek deem best for the long run.
Im sure he was aware of this beforehand. He's just a loose cannon.

I'm not really comparing Carroll and Kubiak, but okay! Just replying to the incorrect point you made.

Well free agency didn't exist back then, so I imagine the players wouldn't take that chance regardless of social media. This has been the long lasting legacy of this franchise/Al since 1993. We can't figure out the right guys to pay.

Sure the likes of Glazer have turned into click bait artists but it would be logical for the Raiders to entertain trade offers for Maxx.

What often gets left out of the equation is where the team you’re trading with is picking. You probably have a bunch of playoff teams willing to give us 1sts… those picks just aren’t actually all that enticing. Can’t imagine too many bad teams lining up to mortgage their future for him
I realize this is just us on the forum brainstorming, but I could see if a deal involved a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd that maybe the deal would be for a 1st next year and the other pick this year?

It is speculation. Kubiak was certainly involved in his future during his interview. No doubt in my mind

Trade him. We f[raiders_icon]cked up getting value for “Milquetoast Mamba”. Let’s not make the same mistake with “Valhalla Mamba”.

Any reporter should be viewed with extreme skepticism. That doesn't really change the fact that Maxx is an oft injured narcissist that should be traded while we can get value back for him

Yea, I don't give a shit about Jay Glazer lol. Maxx should be traded regardless if Glazer is backpedaling or not.
