Had there been social media during the 1987 NLPA strike the Raider players would have been calling out teammates, coaches, ownership. It would have been a shitshow. Townsend was calling Howie Long "Gone Hollywood" in the LA Times. Marc Wilson was about the be strung up on a rail and tossed off a pier in Huntington Beach. Al Davis called Marcus a terminal disease and exiled him to Chino. Marcus ended up languishing and Wilson was sent to waivers in the offseason but the rest of the team more or less worked it out.NoThanksSir wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 11:58 am Maxx has been publicly grappling with the idea of him not retiring a Raider for years now. He has a podcast episode where he records himself questioning his future if the Raiders didn't hire Antonio Pierce.
Not sure how much credence should be given to emotional rants. Kubiak will buff it out.

Im sure he was aware of this beforehand. He's just a loose cannon.DanKD wrote: Wed Feb 04, 2026 8:42 pm I think Crosby has mostly shut up because he sees what losing ended up with. An actual potential franchise qb.
Im fine keeping or moving him for a good haul. Whatever Kubiak and Spytek deem best for the long run.

I'm not really comparing Carroll and Kubiak, but okay! Just replying to the incorrect point you made.Attyla wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 12:01 pm cool, not getting overly drawn into this, I am not a decision maker so I am just watching what happens. What happened under Carroll vs will happen under Kubiak are apples and oranges.

Well free agency didn't exist back then, so I imagine the players wouldn't take that chance regardless of social media. This has been the long lasting legacy of this franchise/Al since 1993. We can't figure out the right guys to pay.Toast wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 12:02 pm Had there been social media during the 1987 NLPA strike the Raider players would have been calling out teammates, coaches, ownership. Sure the likes of Glazer have turned into click bait artists but it would be logical for the Raiders to entertain trade offers for Maxx.

I realize this is just us on the forum brainstorming, but I could see if a deal involved a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd that maybe the deal would be for a 1st next year and the other pick this year?raiders93 wrote: Wed Feb 04, 2026 8:24 pm At least to the best of my recollection - guys like Maxx usually only get traded if they force the issue. I have a hard time seeing us really considering it on our own terms.
What often gets left out of the equation is where the team you’re trading with is picking. You probably have a bunch of playoff teams willing to give us 1sts… those picks just aren’t actually all that enticing. Can’t imagine too many bad teams lining up to mortgage their future for him

It is speculation. Kubiak was certainly involved in his future during his interview. No doubt in my mindKillerRaider30 wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 3:21 pm Who announces Maxx to be traded during Superbowl week?

Trade him. We f[raiders_icon]cked up getting value for “Milquetoast Mamba”. Let’s not make the same mistake with “Valhalla Mamba”.

Any reporter should be viewed with extreme skepticism. That doesn't really change the fact that Maxx is an oft injured narcissist that should be traded while we can get value back for him

Yea, I don't give a shit about Jay Glazer lol. Maxx should be traded regardless if Glazer is backpedaling or not.NoThanksSir wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 3:52 pm Any reporter should be viewed with extreme skepticism. Well. Maxx did say a while back that if we didn't hear it from him then don't believe it
