Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

NO thanks on Jennings, big bark, little to show for it. As with most Niners, Shanahan, schemed him open. Deebo was a product of Kyle's system, piss poor in DC.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Kirk Cousins is “considered a prime option” for the Raiders as they look to pair a veteran quarterback with Fernando Mendoza.
The Raiders apparently did have Joe Flacco in mind for this role at some point, per Fowler, so perhaps it’s not quite as one-track-focused on Cousins it has appeared. Other veteran non-Cousins names still on the market include Russell Wilson, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Tyrod Taylor.

I'd rather Mendoza start Day 1 than any of the non-Cousin options.

Tyrod taylor has been around and seems like a professional but yeah Cousins is the only who Mendoza may not be miles ahead of already at week 1.

Correct usage of caps and small case.... and punctuation, even if it's wrong.mstrbass2000 wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:04 am naw i prefer caps all the time but since im new here i gave a variety ...ill give you guys the choice "which do you prefer" ???

Watching this today really cements (in my mind) that he's gonna be the week 1 starter. I don't care what other QBs we bring in. I mean I just think his preparation, intelligence, leadership and accuracy are already on a whole other level.

I think he'll win the job over anyone else we can have. I don't really care if we have someone else under center for a few games just to give him a bit more time watching and to cement our oline under fire though. The idea of adding a Kirk Cousins to be a presumed starter for a year is ludicrous IMO - I think Mendoza will be better in no time, and we absolutely need to get him a lot of play in 2026 to get him ready for 2027 which is when the real fun begins.BoKnows81 wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 3:01 pm Watching this today really cements (in my mind) that he's gonna be the week 1 starter. Id love to see a trade for Drew Lock. Seattle has investment in Milroe who now has a year as an NFL player under his belt. He's got 1 year left on his deal for 2-2.5 million and shouldn't cost much in trade. 2027 6th or something like that, if so? I'm all about it. He has been with multiple teams now and has some experience for the NFL game. He's got some physical traits that excite you if he ever has to play, not some noodle arm bum with no upside. He's popped off in a few games as a backup coming in. A 300 yard 4TD passing game with the Giants two years ago comes to mind. Spent last year under Kubiak and can help Fernando learn the ropes of being an NFL guy as well as Klints system. By all accounts an awesome dude and team player

I said from the beginning that I thought him sitting for a bit wouldn’t be a bad thing and I still feel that way, and apparently so does Kubiak, but that doesn’t mean signing a guy like Cousins. Just start whoever you’ve decided the back up will be because he’s only giving the real starter a bit of time to adjust and will ride the bench for the large part of the season anyway. Like you I’m kind of perplexed by this Cousins talk.chucker wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 6:09 pm I think he'll win the job over anyone else we can have. It won't be Cousins. Whoever it is doesn’t need to win games for us, or even play reasonably well. He just needs to go out there and chew up time. Of course the best option is that Mendoza makes it impossible to sit him for even a game and his era begins on day 1.raider_kin wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 9:14 pm It won't be Cousins.
