That's always a funny game to play, we beat down the Chiefs on Christmas and they won the SB weeks later.Goodtimes333 wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 10:10 am The Raiders were a nut hair away from beating the Bears last year, even with that horrifically coached Raiders team. That basically tells you all you need to know

That's one extreme way to look at it. The fact of the matter is that the Raiders have some talent. You lose Kolton Miller for almost the whole year. Bowers gets hurt week 1 and isn't right for weeks on end. The defense is constantly on the field and also put in terrible situations with turnovers from terrible QB play. There's aspects of the team that were dog shit, including and above all coaching from the top. There's also aspects of the team that were very solid. It's lazy and cheap to look at it without depth or in an extreme light.

After reading the posts here (yes I read other peoples posts) I am warming to the idea of trading for Vea. A 4th and a 6th, and what does he want for a contract? If he wants 3 yrs 30/yr guaranteed, is that too much?
Not sure now, maybe its not.

Its a contract ploy more than likely.rich72 wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 11:37 am Yeah he apparently "tweaked" his back. I would for sure pass on him now. Back injuries linger.

Doubt he'd accept it, but considering his age I'm thinking a Raider friendly contract offer for Vita for 3 years @ $20 Mil per with a 4th year team option for another $20 Mil. Not sure what the guaranteed money would/should be.
Offer TB a 4th and a 6th, stipulated on the Raiders and Vita agreeing on the above figures.
Anything more than this is overpaying/over-extending, IMO, though I realize that teams are sometimes compelled to do so.
...just spitballing.

If he would sign for anything close to that he would have been locked up by Tampa.raidersince63 wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 12:51 pm Doubt he'd accept it, but considering his age I'm thinking a Raider friendly contract offer for Vita for 3 years @ $20 Mil per with a 4th year team option for another $20 Mil. AKA we might be closing in on a trade partner, so we're holding him out for the near futurerich72 wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 11:37 am Yeah he apparently "tweaked" his back. I would for sure pass on him now. Back injuries linger.

Excellent point, he is requesting a trade because he is looking for more than a slimmed down third tier contract.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 1:28 pm If he would sign for anything close to that he would have been locked up by Tampa.

I’d wager that the Bucs sat him to protect themselves should they looked to trade him if they don't work out a contract
I’m getting on board with trading for him as it could be the thing that really jumpstart the team

I dont think this team needs to wait to be good to add quality starters on the o-line or at the dt position. Those positions are anchors and are fundamental to the offence and defenses success, unlike WR or RBs. To me its only about the cost of the acquisition.heavyD wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 5:51 am He's 31 years old. His timeline doesn't really fit the Raiders. If he was a free agent that's one thing as they can afford to overpay him a bit but they also have to give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick. It's not a great fit for both parties as I'm sure he will get opportunities to join teams that are in a win-now window.

The glaring weakness on defense is lack of a nose tackle/inside presence. Yeah, let's not trade for the guy because the team "isn't good yet"
Crazy mindset to have. This Raider team isn't that far off from competing week in week out. The fact of pure shit QB play the last few years is the number #1 reason of struggle. Shanahan/Kubiak scheme with a proven oline coach gives a lot of hope. The QB room has some options. The defense has added a lot of talent. There's plenty to work with to not be a bottom feeder. If you can get a Vita Vea you do it. It's the one hole on defense. (Every team has depth issues all over. Very few don't)

For those numbers I'd be hot for. Imo Buc's and Vita won't do those numbers, not even close.raider_kin wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 11:57 am After reading the posts here (yes I read other peoples posts) I am warming to the idea of trading for Vea. Yup, like I said, I doubt he or TB would go for that anyway, which again, is why I think the whole thing is moot.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Wed Jul 29, 2026 1:28 pm If he would sign for anything close to that he would have been locked up by Tampa.
