Is it Mendoza time???
We are on a 4 game losing skid, and I think it's time to put KC out to pasture...with that said all this talk of Mendoza getting destroyed is ridiculous...hell KC has somehow come out unscathed after 7 games what makes people think a mobile QB will fare worse...we aren't going anywhere with KC! It's time to get the kid some real game time experience & see what life with Mendoza entails!

Where in the Book O` Rules is that? Section 3 Article 5? ;)erickench wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:06 pm We can't start a rookie QB without a good run game to support him.

So you are ok letting him ride the bench for 3 or 4 more years if needed to fix the run game. We can give him a contract extension without ever having played.erickench wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:06 pm We can't start a rookie QB without a good run game to support him.

We have great TEs, and even if the run game is not up to snuff, his ability to throw bullets downfield would soften up the defenses we face especially once teams learn that he has pretty damn good pocket awareness even if he is still processing what he is seeing a bit slow.

I love how some seem to think we are going to ruin him unless we get it perfect before he hits the field.Raider_Dave wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:12 pm So you are ok letting him ride the bench for 3 or 4 more years if needed to fix the run game. After the bye would be a great time for Mendo to start.Couple weeks of first team reps.He needs playing time to see nfl speed and get some experience.Cant wait for the perfect scenario

The bye is way too late. We need to take advantage of the market and get trade comp for Cousins. A 2nd round pick could fix a guard position.Mckdaddy wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:25 pm After the bye would be a great time for Mendo to start.Couple weeks of first team reps.He needs playing time to see nfl speed and get some experience.Cant wait for the perfect scenario

As much as I agree I don't see anyway getting a 2nd for Cousins.Hes playing well but hes in a familiar scheme.Weak arm and no mobility aint going to cut itCruisin with Tooz wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:32 pm The bye is way too late. I’ve been seeing a lot of comments about Cousins having no mobility. It’s a valid point especially when he plays behind this struggling oline.
But you know who else is old and has no mobility? The qb we just faced. Stafford is coming off an MVP season. He has a running game and star wide receivers.
I’m sure that someone would counter that Stafford has a stronger arm. But it makes me wonder how things would look if in a hypothetical scenario, Stafford was a Raider and Cousins was on the Rams.
And if Cousins stats look great with us, what would his stats be if he started for the Rams?
This post is not an attack on Mendoza and I think it’s a reasonable position to have that he should start. Someone could use my comments to argue that Mendoza should start because our talent is so inferior to teams like the Rams so throw the rookie in there to develop him since we’re not contenders anyway. Others have said don’t throw Mendoza in there with so many players on offense struggling.

Yes we can. No reason not too. QB is getting tome to pass. A stronger arm back there should help get the run game going a little better.erickench wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:06 pm We can't start a rookie QB without a good run game to support him.
Should we sit him a few years until everything is perfect? He would be stepping into a better situation than most rookie do. He was the #1 pick not a developmental project. I think he has the tools let's see what he has got

Carr was always mentally weak. It had nothing to do with any O-line, RB, WR, or TE issues. If things were imperfect, there could've been a picture in the dictionary of him next to "Mediocre."Coach dd 11 wrote: Mon Oct 26, 2026 11:17 am Jesus...I didn't compare him to DC....I said that he could get hurt or mentally break constantly playing behind a piss poor line like DC did in my opinion, and a lot of others.
Contrast that with Stafford who played his ass off with the Lions. That was a terrible team but the guy went out every week and gave it his all.
If Mendoza is as mentally vaginal as Carr was, he's hopeless anyway.
I don't think he is though. I think this kid can take the hard knocks and get better. He'll learn from his mistakes and continue to develop his talent.

In today's era rookie QB's can thrive out of the gate. It's not like Mendoza played in the triple option at Nebraska. He was developed in a pro style offense. He has the instincts.erickench wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 12:06 pm We can't start a rookie QB without a good run game to support him.
As others have alluded he may open things up for the running game because he has the ability to stretch the field and utilize intermediate crosses and outs better than Cousins. He is also a threat to run the ball himself.

Yeah. Handing off to Jeanty up the middle on 1st down is like starting each drive with 2nd and 10 instead of 1st and ten.Hellbound wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 3:00 am He needs to scrap some of his game day calling plan too. Sometimes you need to adjust things
Maybe there's talk behind the scenes about how the O-line is getting better (?) or something. But from both the eye test and the stats, it's ass right now. A coach wants to stick with their philosophy and that's fine, but after seven games, you need to be a little more flexible.

Its maddening that we open every game and then nearly every offensive series with a run up the middle.Opoponax50 wrote: Tue Oct 27, 2026 3:14 pm Yeah. Handing off to Jeanty up the middle on 1st down is like starting each drive with 2nd and 10 instead of 1st and ten.
