About 500K skydivers vs 6M deep sea scuba divers? So yea, the chance of dying skydiving is .006% chance of death. Again, they are allowed to have a life. As for getting punched and kicked, I guarantee he gets hit harder playing football than he does with the gloves on.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 8:38 am You cant compare # of deaths directly unless the denominators are the same. Whats the total number of parachute jumps in a year compared to the total number of dips in the ocean in a year?
And the separate comment about injury? That is also very low. .51 per 100K sustain an injury.
I think we are jumping the shark on this one. FYI jumping the shark? Zero chance of injury. I know, I watched that show.

Apparently it's new footage but it's from when they sparred in 2023. I think it's ok then because people liked Maxx in 2023.

Maxx could bring peace to Iran and fans would find reasons to dislike him. Sure, he comes off s a diva at times and I have been critical of that. But when you are the big fish in the Raiders dirty fish bowl it is simply human nature and despite that he has always busted his ass on the field and been liked by his teammates.chucker wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 12:44 pm Apparently it's new footage but it's from when they sparred in 2023. I am wondering if it's a Raider Nation thing to be so polarizing about players. Maybe it is simply a symptom of social media but I find it puzzling.

After decades of dysfunction the Raiders fanbase has rightfully earned to title "Bipolar Nation".Toast wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 1:20 pm Maxx could bring peace to Iran and fans would find reasons to dislike him. Indeed, though I remember some fans disliking Gannon's "noodle" arm and yearning for the return of the vertical game while he QB'ed the team to three straight AFC titles.Xramfan wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 1:25 pm After decades of dysfunction the Raiders fanbase has rightfully earned to title "Bipolar Nation".

The fanbase is probably pissed off that he almost hurt himself three years ago doing MMA that they did not know about and blaming Maxx for dropping the video just to f[raiders_icon]ck with us. Well I'm not jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. Didn't do it in the military not doing it now. Plus my brother in law, while still alive, had 2 skydiving accidents within 2 years. And it took him a year to get better after the first. And he was an instructorAttyla wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 4:40 am I actually have knowledge in this one. Deep sea diving, skydiving and the like are not restricted nor are the players advised not to engage in the activities. When Rothlesburger got injured riding his motorcycle it came out that he had no restrictions in his contract about such things. And sparring is included in that way. Our own Lyle Alzado, when he was a Bronco, had a full on exhibition match against Ali. And in typical Alzado style, he went to war and did not treat it as an exhibition match. Players are encouraged to use all safety measures in their down time activities but they are allowed to have a life.
And for the record, skydiving is relatively safe. there are around 30 deaths per year. 10 people die per year in shark attacks. Same for hang gliding deaths. You actually have about the same chances of dying from a lightening strike as you do skydiving. And I highly recommend you try skydiving. Helluva lot of fun. Just do it in the spring or summer. The experience of going from high up where it is actually quite chilly to the heat of the day is cool as hell.

This is rich. An attention whore/drama queen puts this stuff out there because he wants the notoriety, the clicks and the attention. Not unexpectedly, it rubs a bunch of fans the wrong way. And we're the problem. If you are not bothered by his off field antics, why are you bothered by our take on it?

I'll address Maxx since the topic is about him. Maxx was put on IR with two games to go, so the team could secure a generational QB talent, and immediately posted a video playing basketball as a way to say F You to the org, and tell the world he's healthy enough to play.Attyla wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 2:11 pm Can someone get me some cliff notes on who we hate and when we hate them and why we hate them?
Knowing our luck, the league could have used this as an excuse to screw us for some made up BS violating the integrity of the league or some other crap, we are the Raiders after all. Fortunately for us, Maxx was indeed injured, and even better yet, NYG win along with our week 18 win completely erases any chance of that, even though it was always a very low chance of happening. Nevertheless, Maxx didn't want us to get Fernando Mendoza, and many think he's a dumb f[raiders_icon]cking idiot for that.
Besides that, he's a good player, although without the gaudy sack numbers you'd like to see from a premier edge.- These users gave a High Five to the author Corleone for the post (total 5):

Fair enough. I just don't get bent out of shape over a video of a player doing MMA.Corleone wrote: Sun Mar 01, 2026 3:15 pm I'll address Maxx since the topic is about him.
